i think the whole Capcom not thinking anyone would care to play the original RE games when the remakes exists is just particularly strange when that seems to be very antithetical to their fighting game division, with all of the Capcom fighting collections that have released over the last few years.
just funny to seemingly see one Capcom rep be befuddled by GOG wanting to re-release the classic Resident Evil games while others at the company were keen to make preserving and re-releasing the classic fighting games they know people love, even when i'm sure the higher ups obviously just want all their fighting game fans to be playing Street Fighter 6 above all else

Yea I don't understand how "art" and "product" is seen almost as this binary state. They ARE both. Some people will prefer the remake, and for them it'll have more value over the other, why should that be a problem for you if you don't?
And like, on Capcom thinking that the remake replaces the original: So what tbh. If you prefer the original and aren't interested in the remake and they make the original inaccessible for you then clearly they don't want your money specifically, just pirate it then.

I think people forget or just never knew that Resident Evil was a huge hit, and RE style tank controls were a trend. They are antiquated now but were popular then.
That is to say… Resident Evil is not some quirky indie art game. All games are certainly art in some way, and of course many talented artists worked on those games, but let’s be real.
I think what many people who get riled up about whether or not the RE remakes count as “playing that game for real” need to make peace with is that these multi-million dollar video games are not precious… they are products. You may have a very profound relationship with these games and this world and these characters and that is really special and good, but waxing poetic about how and why remakes exist and what they should be and how they’re not the same is sort of missing the forest for the trees. They are made to make money, just as the originals were.

My dream is that they utilize all the mechanics & features of the RE engine games and implement them into an Outbreak remake or new Outbreak game. Kevin could have Leons Kick, Alyssa could have Jills dodge, bring back all bioweapons etc. Could easily be the best RE game of all time 🥹

Actually the crime scene photo in Grace's inventory at the start of the game shows an "8" smeared in blood.
I would have liked to know what in any ciphers given was supposed to draw your attention to the idea that you're supposed to "watch 115 bodies drop in the emaciator" then "flush the toilet 8 times".
Dataminers found that there WAS a doll, but the actual doll was found by accident, that's the only logical conclusion that could have been reached. :\

RESIDENT EVIL REQUIEM THE FINAL PUZZLE HAS BEEN SOLVED! Rantsycancy and Kyro are the first people in the world to figure it out, a ridiculously complex set of steps have to be taken for this one Here's how to solve it: 1 - Wait 15 minutes at the meat processing plant in teh basement to reset the game's flag tracking back to 0 2 - Once you're in the processer sequence in the basement, do not kill ANY zombies 3 - AFTER the basement, you don't need to pick up the severed hand, go to the toilets in the West Wing and flush one of the toilets exactly EIGHT times 4 - Now proceed normally with the story, once you get to the basement of Victor's office to get the pilot's key, as you are escaping, Marie's doll will spawn at the staircase 5 - Now finish the entire game with Marie's doll in the item box 6 - Start a new playthrough, play up to past the basement, pick up the severed hand, scan it then go to the East Wing, enter the code that I discussed in the original post at the Sun/Star/Moon machine in the East Wing WHILE carrying Emily 7 - You have completed RE9's Final Puzzle! What a ridiculously convoluted, confusing puzzle. So happy its finally solved!

RE7 definitely loses steam once you reach the boat, but feels like such a pointed vision for the first 2/3 of the game. if it didnt fall off a cliff by the end, i think it'd probably be in my top 3 RE games. 8 is maybe more a consistently good game compared to 7, but doesnt quite hit the same highs for me. and yeah the plot is a mess and theres many points in the game where it feels half-baked or that there is cut content that you can palpably feel

ok re8 won me over a lot more by the end. its high points are higher than re7's...but 7 is still the better game because it's more solid. re8 has a lot of great ideas that are bogged down by bad writing and plot contrivances. gameplay overall was great but pacing was a lil weird

@wilmauwilleur Adobe ending support on Animate aint got nothing on my Flash8.exe that i downloaded from a video uploaded by like a 12 year old on "how to get free flash" back in 2012 that ive still been using to this day
