@gegybeans oh it also happens a lot that there are alternative systems, but they would be server side, so it would just lag behind a lot

@gegybeans usually not, I guess there's custom font trickery for ui elements, but mostly I use shaders either as a scuffed way to add systems that don't exist already, or to make something visually interesting

@gegybeans custom hud elements, animations, skyboxes, emissives, overriding hardcoded textures/tint colours, visuals for certain effects, coloured lights, and also for aesthetic purposes.

@gabii_dev @datalioness_ but, smooth lighting only really blends properly if the colours are next to each other on the lightmap/palette. so the blending only really looks good if the colours are not complementary

@gabii_dev @datalioness_ sorta, the palette consists of 16 different colours, with 16 different brightness values each. the server calculates what the actual blended value should be and picks the closest one on the palette. which would be white in case of blending everything together.
