I’m aware that no one will be appointed (even if the person is an Igbo man) without the masses having a doubt in the person’s integrity or that the person had an agreement with the power that be, but I always believe that if the people are resolute, conscientious, participate fully and stand their ground, it won’t be easy for even Seyi Tinubu as an INEC to outrightly declare his father the winner if he didn’t win. I also believe that even the toughest devil goes to sleep no matter its preparations when nature wants to take its course on a particular issue. Prof, you can make it easy for the Nigerians by towing the path of integrity no matter the forces (definitely they will come) or nature may have its way if it’s time. Congratulations!

I replied to a tweet yesterday, and a lot of people felt inspired… My life is a full movie. I started investing at age 27. I felt I was a bit late, but God bless the day I met my mentor. Two years later, in 2010, he gave me the push and taught me the “volume game.” By 2013, I got married. I remember sitting with a friend of mine who worked at Eco Bank at the time. He had just bought a nice car, and we were talking about cars. I was still driving my Toyota Camry “tiny light,” which I bought back in 2009 for ₦900k. My stock portfolio was already about ₦60 million, around $350,000. Naira devaluation do me strong thing sha! He almost went crazy when I told him, because he couldn’t understand how I could have that kind of portfolio and still drive such a “dead” car! Two years later, I lost 30% of my portfolio to the Buhari administration’s bad economic policies! Exchange rate in the black market jumped from ₦ 180 to ₦ 520 in two years! Foreign investors fled the country. That didn't stop me from investing. The only reason I changed my car in 2013 was because I had to give one to my wife. I then bought a Highlander for ₦2.5 million. My friends thought I was crazy, because they all had “machines,” and I could afford ten times what they drove. But for me, my portfolio has always been my Rolls-Royce. Now ask yourself: can you have ₦550 million and still drive a ₦13 million Camry? In 2018, I had the biggest IT project of my life, I was part of the team that built the NCS security hardware architecture involving different OEMs. I felt it was worth celebrating, so I bought one of the newest Acura MDX trims and took it to show my mentor. He asked how much it cost. When I told him, he said: “I don’t think you should spend that kind of money on a car. I wouldn’t do it.” Instantly, I felt I had goofed. When I first met him, a seasoned chartered accountant, he was driving a dead Audi with a tiny steering, lol. But I knew he was one of the richest among his friends. He’s been investing in the capital market since 1995. He bought BCC, which Dangote later acquired and renamed Dangote Cement, at ₦1.50 per share. Back then, he would write a ₦5,000 cheque every month for his broker to invest. He still occasionally lectures me on the history of the stock market that predates 1995. I still have a few pounds I exchanged for ₦245 in 2012, when I traveled to England to visit my then fiancée, now my wife, while she was doing her Master’s in Information Security and Audit. Now that’s discipline and self-control. I’ve built four amazing duplexes in one of the choicest parts of Lagos, but I still live in a rented apartment! Yes, you read that right. I even switched what I drive to a Toyota truck recently because I have more projects on my hands now. Some friends think I’m going crazy 😁 But me? I no send anybody! To me, the biggest flex is delayed gratification. Nothing moves me. The day you realize you don’t need much in this world is the day you are truly free from the clutches of inferior thinking. And what happens then? You build an incredible portfolio full of different asset classes! That’s the biggest flex!
