🎥 POOR TEAM SELECTION, POOR CHANGES, POOR PERFORMANCE 🗓️ 17th February 2026 🏆 League 2 🆚 Chesterfield 🏟️ SMH Group Stadium Ive backed this team (missed one league game) & we’ve backed this team all season, but to see another campaign essentially over in February is totally unacceptable. Players back in the line up when not deserving of it, still too safe in selection, forcing players into a system second half & overall offering nothing aside from 10 minutes each half shows just how far away we are currently. Good luck to Chesterfield for the rest of the season, comfortable & deserving winners. @montehasspoken @theo_alexander7 He's not even played 2 full matches worth of minutes, had practically a year without playing any kind of league football and people were already writing him off before he signed. Give the bloke a chance 🤷‍♂️

@spirestats @theo_alexander7 I don't agree with hurling abuse at players, after the game make your points known but during support the team. I do feel though that Ladapo is another huge mistake signing doesn't look fit for Clay Cross town let alone us, hopefully he's only here until may.

Being dissapointed in not winning games, that's fine. If you decide the best way to react is by giving abuse to the best squad we've had in over a decade, please find a new sport. Football isn't for you.

@john_rimington That's it. I'm yet to have one of the people that are obviously being spoken about debate me on it and come away without blocking me. I'd assume there's a lack of emotional intelligence in there for most of them though 🤷‍♂️

@spirestats team you just get called a happy clapper by someone with worse reasoning skills than a toddler. There are just some entitled people that think we should just be given 3 points every week. This is clearly a rebuild project, people saying the season is over I have no words for 🤦‍♂️

@ryandickens_ It's completely fine to not be thrilled, its just the way a section of fans that have decided to react in such a negative fashion that's the issue for me. 15 games with everything to play for, in my eyes it's more important than ever for the fanbase to be supportive!

@spirestats It’s barely an improvement from last year though mate, and away form has swayed that. Home form is bad, on par with last season. Still time to turn it round, but up until this point I’d say underwhelming is a very fair criticism sadly. Re player abuse obviously unacceptable

@ryandickens_ At this point in a season it's been just under 10 years since we have been this high in the football pyramid. Completely fair to have hoped for more than what we have done so far. That being said, there really is no need for the way some fans react, and it certainly doesn't help

@spirestats A Derby fan coming in peace here. I was at the SMH today and couldn’t believe what I was hearing. 1-0 and dominating the game in the first half, there were fans around me abusing every player. I get frustrations, but when it comes with no real substance, it’s wild.

@Steveo_brown Not only on paper, at this point in a season it's been just under 10 years since we have been this high in the footballing pyramid. Like I say though, absolutely be disappointed with results. That's perfectly fine, but the way some fans are displaying their frustration isn't!

@spirestats Best squad in years? Not sure about that I think on paper yes, but we are underachieving with this squad. Players shouldn’t receive abuse ever however paying fans have the right to be disgruntled with that today

@TommyFell1 This season has not gone exactly how anybody would have wanted. That being said we are literally a single point away from the playoffs, having 1 loss in 8 matches. Booing a team off when you look at things from that perspective is ridiculous.

@spirestats Mate it’s part and parcel of the game it’s been a shite season, and then we throw away yet another game to bottom of the league. I wouldn’t personally boo, but after this season and the performances we’ve had to watch I’m not surprised

@TommyFell1 I've heard individuals giving abuse first hand this season. Don't think it's a stretch to say we have many fans capable of being stupid enough to do the same today. Also, booing the team off isn't necessary, have we or anybody else ever gotten better after fans turn on the team?

@spirestats I’d take it with a pinch of salt think he’s looking for the door, if booing is classed as abuse then the games gone. We’ve been shit this season and it’s another shit result
