Problem with school closing calculators is that it doesn't take into account the psychology. 2-4" of snow at the wrong time of day could close school in early November. Same weather in February has less of a chance. Probability of closing school is higher around a holiday

@spohnd Great question. However, the question is what is your definition of a beginning or end of winter? Everyone seems to have their own.

I'm looking to do an analysis on the winters of the'70s through the present here in northern Ohio. What elements would you like me to look into?

@ScottSabolFOX8 Haha! I was hoping that you would take the ball and run! I do not have a firm definition, but my question originates from a feeling that November/December seems to have gotten better during my lifetime and March/April seems to have gotten worse.
