@brenrens some ppl develop weird relationships with apps like last fm and letterboxd from the moment it becomes a social app and start they using it not as a diary but as a way to show off their "taste" and compare themselves to others

@sporalys @ScratchAE__ Unfortunately the reality is that he needs to play the game and that's what he's doing. Companies are not going to work with creatives that come back and ask for more after doing their job. He's in the same boat as them and recognizes that in the article.

I have lost 30 lbs and started reading outside every single day and attempt to meet new people 3x a week and am successfully taking care of dozens of plants and am making more money than Ive ever made and to be honest I am still wildly depressed. Kinda messed up.

@jimsweatshirt i don't use it as a diary bc the concept of logging and rating doesn't appeal to me personally but i do use it for discovery, looking at lists and reading reviews and i think it's a fantastic app, i don't get the hate at all tbh it's harmless and has so many positives

not an artist myself but as someone who loves and appreciates art (and of course by extension, artists) it often breaks my heart how capitalism can slowly erode any passion behind creating by forcing artists to create what they "must" instead of what they actually want
