@CoronadoNF closure order for the Catalinas until Nov. 1 extends from Golder Ranch Road northeast by southeast to Redington Road. Catalina Hwy., Redington Road & the Control Road remain closed. Charouleau Gap Road closed at the Forest boundary. Catalina State Park can reopen.

A mountain lion on a Mt. Lemmon trail recently. This sighting is routine and doesn’t require any action by @azgfdTucson. But hikers should know mtn. lions are up there, as are bears now. Call 623-236-7201 if menaced, go to azgfd.gov for info. Trail cam by David Dean

Bighorn sheep in the Santa Catalina Mountains as seen last week during an aerial survey by @azgfdTucson. Thirty GPS collared and uncollared sheep were observed, resulting in a population estimate of 60+ in the range.

AZGFD suspends search for bear that attacked man Sunday so. of Patagonia. Victim treated & released. Area residents, call 623-236-7201 ASAP if brown colored bear w/blonde streaks seen, loudly scare off; secure garbage & other outdoor food sources for now.

At home on the range: @azgfdTucson counting pronghorn antelope in Sonoita-Elgin today. 300+ last year, up from under 100 in 2012. Partnered with AZ Antelope Foundation to improve habitat, add to herd.
