The travel for 4-5 rounds of playoffs (including conference championship game) is too expensive and is too many games for even the biggest die-hards. ... Interviewed a D3 coach about it years ago and he said even the player's families don't end up going to all the rounds.

The most important factor? Did they show up to practice.
