Shashi Tharoor@ShashiTharoor

My latest #TharoorThink column in the @IndianExpress explains why I have not joined the widespread liberal critique of the Indian government’s “moral failure” to condemn the US-Israeli attack on Iran. India has too much at stake to indulge in the morally gratifying grandstanding that could have placed vital national interests at risk. As the late Kofi Annan advised me, citing a Ghanaian proverb: “never hit a man on the head when you have your fingers between his teeth!”

what are some things other unmarried 30+ women who haven't reached where they thought they would look forward to? I force myself to care about movie releases, TV shows, books, salary day (seeing some stable amount after years of unsteady income is 🙏), election days....

as a chronically fatigued, neurodivergent who is generally a boring person, it's a burden to think of this life as the only one, and yet in a way, damn freeing. it's certainly more spiritual than any religious pursuit

When he just 15, P. Vinu waded across the Periyar river to retrieve the decaying body of a dear friend. Since then he has assisted the police with victims of unnatural deaths. He is known as the “corpse collector.” Navamy Sudhish writes in her review: “His story is a searing portrait of a man who offers the ultimate dignity to the dead, only to be denied basic humanity by the living.” Heartbreaking, important story. This is for a stage 4 colon cancer patient in India with the BRAF v600 mutation. The Breakwater trial (Folfox + Cetuximab + Encorafenib) has shown great outcomes for this mutation. Encorafenib (Braftovi) isn’t registered in India but can be imported - though quite expensive.

1/ #CitiesInFiction now has a literary map. Every book in our list is pinned to the place it is set in. You can explore South Asian fiction as a geography — which cities have been written about, and which are still waiting. 👉 citiesinfiction.com/maps
