@YaBoyCoots Brashear was beating Domi in this one and then bailed when Domi reared back with that last left.

@Hillster28 @hockey_samurai @JP8830763240 @VintageOilers @ToughNumbers @hockey_vintage I have been researching pre original 6 fighters and have put together my own database of all fights and majors from 1917 to 1937 (currently). I'm going to go up to the start of the Original 6 era-a time we have little info on.
English

@hockey_samurai @JP8830763240 @VintageOilers @ToughNumbers @hockey_vintage @srehm1 He did the research, no doubt, that or he was 128 years old & that's why we never hear from him anymore 😂
English

@Hillster28 @JP8830763240 @VintageOilers @ToughNumbers @hockey_vintage @hockey_samurai Hi, Mike - I'm still around, I just haven't been on twitter much. I started a FB group-Legends In Black And White for old school tough guys and, yes, I'm still trying to get that database officially up and running.
English

@JP8830763240 @VintageOilers @ToughNumbers @hockey_vintage @hockey_samurai @srehm1 took hockey fighting to a science. Didn't always agree with him,but respected his point of view.He wanted to create a Hockey Fight platform, then fell off the social media face of the earth.Guy knew his shit though.Kinda miss his input.
English

@JP8830763240 @Hillster28 @VintageOilers @ToughNumbers @hockey_vintage @hockey_samurai If I were to make an updated list today, I'd probably have him just outside the Top-10. He had all the tools save for punching power. Great card, great victories over notable fighters of his time, tremendous physical gifts-strength, stamina and a world class chin.
English

@Hillster28 @VintageOilers @ToughNumbers @hockey_vintage @hockey_samurai Don't recall where I had Marty in my Top All Timers, and the debate few years back. I think I had him just outside Top 10, or just made it. Definitely in top 15-20. I think the knock holding him back imo was maybe his lack of TKO/KO's and wasn't the heaviest puncher out there.
English

@srehm1 @hockey_samurai @pkstrk Montreal paper makes it seem like a slaughter but the Globe makes very minor mention of it … not used to those types of boxscores or write ups … LOL …

English

@hockey_samurai @pkstrk I've been researching fights and major penalties from that era and was surprised to see no real fights went down that night. Newspapers at the time loved to mention how a fight "enlivened" a game. Then I ran into puckstruck's excellent piece on this one. Great work.
English

@pkstrk @hockey_samurai Great piece and one I'm fond of referencing.

@hockey_vintage @CanadiensMTL Ol' Peg wanted no part of playing for Hamilton.
English

#StatSunday 102 years ago today ON THIS DAY in hockey history (November 26, 1921):
The @CanadiensMTL acquire Sprague "Peg" Cleghorn from the Hamilton Tigers for Amos "Butch" Arbour and Harry "Mum" Mummery

English

@hockey_samurai Billy Coutu was the culprit. He made sure Eddie paid his dues.
English

@JP8830763240 Did he say jumped? Lol… Reaves has no idea what jumped means.
English

Potential rematch ? Pretty sure Wifi isn't scared? Why he "jumped" him I guess, then let him regain his balance, when he could have "jumped" him on his knees again? Idk but the talk isn't going to work for me, with all the legit Enforcers to come through the #LeafsForever .
TSN@TSN_Sports
Ryan Reaves had a lot to say about his fight with Arber Xhekaj, and the potential for a rematch. 👀

English

@hockey_vintage @CanadiensMTL Fiery tempered scrapper for the Habs during the 20's and 30's. He was probably their best scrapper in the Post-Cleghorn years with Sylvio Mantha close behind.
English

The late HHOFer Aurele "The Mighty Atom/Little Giant" Joliat was born ON THIS DAY in hockey history (August 29, 1901):
3-time Stanley Cup Champion
1934 Hart Trophy Winner
4-time NHL Allstar
#VintageHockey #NHL @CanadiensMTL

English

@hockey_vintage They routinely rolled out TOUGH teams. During their franchise history they had seasoned scrappers like Red Dutton, Lionel Conacher, Hooley Smith, Babe Siebert, Nels Stewart, Bill Phillips, Buck Boucher, and Allan Shields. All tough guys who donned the "M".
English

@HistoryOfFights He was a shadow of his former self by then. I wasn't even pumped we signed him.
English

The Boston Bruins signed free agent Sandy McCarthy, who had been with the New York Rangers. 08.12.03 #HFH

English

@hogamadog @MarkWhaler They had a one ref, one linesmen set up. Laflamme was teamed up with Billy Bell that night, who also was assaulted.
English

@MarkWhaler Clipping from 1927 describing Billy Coutu's assault on LaFlamme and the harassment he endured through most of the game. Do you know if the refs had had linesmen to protect them back then?

@hogamadog Noteworthy not only for the Senators winning the Cup but also Billy Coutu's violent assault on Referee Dr. Jerry LaFlamme after the game ended. Coutu wound up being banned for life by the league for this incident.
English

#MontrealStar 15 Nov 1926 photos of people I've never seen before - a "young" Cooper Smeaton, Lou Marsh and Jerry LaFlamme, all NHL referees from the 1920s. The season was about to start. Babe Siebert was a big star QAHA Secy James Foley won I also have never seen a photo before.

English

The Senators won the Cup in 4 games. The clincher came on April 13, 1927 with a 3-1 win at the Ottawa Auditorium . It was the was the last Stanley Cup Final game in Ottawa until the June 2, 2007, game played at Scotiabank Place.

@JP8830763240 @JRfortin19 @ToughNumbers According to DYG, at the NHL level, Orr had 9 TKO's and 2 KO's during his career.
English

@JRfortin19 Orr was very tough, loved his style and didn't miss a Leaf game then. You knew you were getting a spirited scrap, and he hit to hurt. Has to be up there for career KO/TKO's. Might have to ask @ToughNumbers if he has anything? Btw you got ESP😆, I just posted Orr/Lucic yesterday.

I forgot how tough Orr was....How many times have you seen a body shot drop a super Heavyweight to his knees? If I remember right, didn't he pretty much have Lucic saying "No Mas" on one of their early fights?
