Ahead of the 26/27 season, there are a few key areas that could make all the difference for Derby. In this thread, I’m looking at either potential loan or permanent targets across LB, CAM, ST, DM and RM - That could take us to another level next season 🧵 #dcfcfans #dcfc #DCFC

@KK1952GH @BelperTownFC I don’t know what went wrong. The style of football is night and day compared to early season. It’s ugly hoofball that isn’t even working now.

@srgsrg91 @BelperTownFC Bright intelligent manager was impressed with him at steelpark. Looks as though it's a bit flat especially at home called a few players out never ends well that. Still 5th big game Monday depending on what Long Eaton turn up might be a good game for the nailers

@KK1952GH @BelperTownFC Be lucky to get there. Performances and results both no where near good enough. Style of play gone down the drain. Change needed.

@AdamFulwell_ You’d be genuinely wrong. The tiring differentiation between those operating it an VAR is just tiresome. The system is one and the same. The whole thing is shit.

@TheMattWise The cost is huge but I sense an indictment in the draft class. These firsts could’ve got you to maybe 5th pick and that’s not a sure thing, 14th pick in a QB dry draft isn’t great and less partners for a trade back too. Banking on next years pick being back end of the round.

The Crosby trade is a massive risk. They got their world class pass rusher. But the cost is huge. It's the "win now", "all in" move that many Ravens' fans have been calling for for a long time. Now we'll see if it pays off. It's, officially, Super Bowl or bust in Baltimore.
Bill Barnwell@billbarnwell

1) Two first-round picks for a non-QB who turns 29 before next season is a *lot*. Can't think of many recent precedents. Quinnen Williams trade raised the price tag for third contract-adjacent guys and this trade only cements that further. Going to be very interesting to see if other teams are willing to pay those prices for guys approaching 30 in the years to come. 2) Genuinely shocked the Ravens were the team who traded two first-round picks. I know they'll have compensatory picks, extra selections here and there, but not the team I would have pegged to trade two first-rounders. 3) Wonder if the inconsistent hit rates on their highly-drafted edge rushers in recent years (Oweh, Ojabo, Green, Isaac) led the Ravens to lean towards the sure thing on the edge. They've been very comfortable trusting their development machine on the edge for a long time now, even when it meant letting guys like Za'darius Smith and Matt Judon leave in free agency. 4) No doubting that the Ravens needed serious help on the edge given trading away Oweh and Kyle Van Noy/Dre'Mont Jones hitting free agency. Crosby was the best player available at their biggest position of need. Love that fit. But I wonder whether spending enough to win the Hendrickson bidding + holding onto the first-rounders would have been a better way to attack those concerns. 5) Ravens are very top-heavy now between Lamar (likely on a new deal), Crosby, Stanley, Madubuike, and top-of-position deals for Hamilton and Roquan Smith. You can win with that formula, but you need your stars to be healthy and really productive.

Can’t believe how many people are complaining about this: 👉 Fewer dead rubber games at the end of each season - now a battle to finish 3rd/4th as well as in the top 8 👉 More teams have a chance to get promoted - the league’s been dominated by relegated teams in recent years, this makes it harder for them and evens out the playing field 👉 MORE Play-off games! - more entertainment! 👉 The team who finishes 8th could get promoted - so what? The team who finishes 6th can get promoted currently? If you have an issue with this, you have an issue with the entire concept of the Play-offs This is a great idea 👏

Unlike football, the NFL operates a flat salary cap (and collar) which limits player salaries to $301.2m (for the season). This means there is greater competitive balance, as evidenced by having 7 Super Bowl champions in last 10 years.
Brian McCarthy@NFLprguy

NFL clubs were informed today that the salary cap for the ’26 season will jump $22 million per club to $301.2 million. Add in another $77.6m in benefits & that’s $378.8m per club in player spending. Tremendous growth

@LeighCurtis_DT How long do we suck it up and move on? We are bad at home and we are even worse when we go a goal down anywhere because we are incapable of playing on the front foot. It’s a problem that needs sorting.

A very bad day at the office for Derby as Watford give them a taste of their own medicine. Sat in and hit them on the counter. Didn't win enough second balls, forward play disjointed. Only Vickers played well. Suck it up and move on. #DCFC #dcfcfans derbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football…

We at Popside Fanatics, are beyond disappointed to see the Club completely ignore Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday this week. It is a massive irony that the Club overlooks these days, considering the very term 'Derby'—now used by every football fan and other sports on earth—was born from the Shrovetide matches played right here in our city. Those matches weren't just random games; they were played between the parishes of All Saints and St Peter’s. These two Christian churches formed the original teams, and their church doors were literally used as the goals. That is the foundation of the 'local derby' and the DNA of Derby County FC with ‘football’ played within our City dating back to the 12th century 🐏⚽️ A popular local legend from the 3rd century (noted in Glover’s History of Derby) claims the game was actually a memorial of a victory over the Romans in AD 217. While this is more folklore than documented fact, it shows how deeply the people of the city views the game as part of its ancient soul. Inclusion must be a two-way street. To see the Club mark Ramadan while totally ignoring the Christian start of Lent—especially when our sport was built on the back of these local church traditions—is a slap in the face to our heritage, religion and supporters. We aren't asking for much, just the same respect the Club shows to others. Don't erase the Christian history that put this city and this Club on the map. #dcfcfans #dcfc #DerbyCounty #PopsideFanatics #AshWednesday #Shrovetide #OurCityOurRoots @dcfcofficial
