@karpathy 's idea is centered around the abstraction of a "ramp". A ramp where everything only depends on the thing before it. If only a course was constructed on this idea, the learning experience could pack so much more motivation to continue learning..Brilliant & Epiphanous!

“Work smarter, not harder” implies there’s a dignified path to competence.
There isn’t.
The path is messy, embarrassing, and littered with mistakes that make you look like you don’t know what you’re doing - because you don’t.
The people who eventually work smart are the ones who were willing to work dumb first. They asked obvious questions. Tried “wrong” approaches.
They looked like beginners because they were beginners and they took the ego hit that comes with that.
That’s the part most people can’t handle. The pain of looking incompetent is the price you pay on the road to excellence.
The better you are at enduring it, the further you go.

In the course of his conversation with His Holiness Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji, a devotee asked, “Is there any particular verse in the Bhagavad Gita that Your Holiness considers to be the most striking?” The sage acknowledged the question with a smile and said, “I like the verse ‘Adveshtaa sarva bhoothaanaam maitrah karuna evacha...’” (Chapter XII/verse-13).
The devotee politely sought the reason why His Holiness would consider this verse to be the most appealing to Him. His Holiness said, “The verse lists the qualities that one should cultivate to make this human life fruitful. I always keep these in mind while treading the path of life.”
