Aaron Rai winning the PGA Championship is an incredible story and shows why golf is such an amazing sport There is nothing wrong with a surprise major champion and especially when it’s guy like Rai, an extremely talented golfer that might be under the radar Everyone talks about how hard it is to win majors and the guy went out and kicked everyone’s ass this week with little experience contending in majors The amount of high quality golf shots he hit down the stretch was incredible and was awesome to watch Get him on the team in Adare!

Brooks Koepka just shot a 7 under par 64 with a 29 back 9 to climb into contention at the Myrtle Beach Classic. It’s his lowest PGA Tour round since 2021 and his lowest 9 hole score since 2019. After the round, he said he’s found his “love for the game” again: “That's the most excited I've been playing golf in a long, long time. I can tell you that much. It's I would say back until '23, the PGA. That's the most -- it's been a long time since I've had fun playing golf. “At least a year I've been very -- I was very frustrated last year. Just wasn't in a good place, but I think a lot of times when you -- it's like anybody, right? If they're happy off the golf course, they're going to play well on the golf course. I think that's a huge, huge piece of it, and I've found that. “Refound my happiness, my love for the game. All the pieces are connected. It's just now I've got to go out and go play.” Next week, he will be looking for his 4th PGA Championship win and 6th major title when he tees it up at Aronkink. How much is he looking forward to it? “Yeah, I'm super excited. It will be something I've been looking forward to for a while. I feel like I've been knocking on the door. It's very close. It's one piece here, one piece there. “Short game wasn't quite there at Augusta. Putted okay, but the short game now is starting to come around. Having Pete here, I got him in here on Wednesday night to be able to grind a little bit and make sure everything is where it needs to be.” I think everyone can agree that it’s so good to see Brooks back playing and in contention again. @BKoepka @PGATOUR @TruistChamp

Brooks Koepka has spent the last 2 Signature Events waiting at the course as the first alternate for a potential spot in the field, but it didn’t come. He explained his motivation to do that ahead of the Myrtle Beach Classic: “So, listen, the way I look at it is I'm itching to get in, but I'm accepting of where I'm at, and I understand that there's prices to pay for coming back, and I'm willing to accept those and whatever I have to do. “I knew this year was going to be challenging to even get in them. I kind of thought maybe by around U.S. Open, but to know that I'm kind of knocking on the door already is a good thing. Just the answer to everything is play better, and you're in.” Then he followed up by talking about the opportunity this week in the opposite field event: “Yeah, no, it's a great opportunity. I think the stretch that I've got, I've got three in a row here. Hopefully I can improve on my position, my standing and see where it's at. Like I said, good golf takes care of everything else, and hopefully will be in them soon enough.” Brooks starts the first leg a of triple header with the PGA Championship next week and then the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. He’ll be looking for a good run to help qualify for the remaining Signature Events of the season and the FedEx Cup Playoffs. @BKoepka @PGATOUR

🚨🏌️🙅🏼‍♂️ #JOKE — In an exclusive with @thetimes, LIV Golfer Anirban Lahiri laughed off the theory LIV golfers are ready to jump ship and head back to the PGA Tour: “That is the biggest joke ever. I will not name names but I know at least a dozen players who’d rather not play golf than go back to the PGA Tour.” When asked what’s wrong with the PGA Tour, Lahiri said: “I’m not going to answer because I don’t want this to be a hate thing,” he says. “I played on the PGA Tour for seven years and really enjoyed my time there. I learnt a lot about the business of golf and some of the things I learnt disillusioned me. I’ll leave it at that. “That was enough for me not to want to go back, but that’s me personally. I’m sure others have different opinions of it and I respect that as well, but to generalise that everybody is falling over backwards to come back to the PGA Tour is the same kind of propaganda we’ve had for four years.”

Thomas Detry signed with LIV Golf during the off season while still the reigning champion of the WM Phoenix Open on the PGA Tour. Just 4 months since he made the move, the PIF announced they’re cutting funding and the league’s future is uncertain. He spoke about what that news has been like to process in an interview with Garrett Johnston: “I pretty much shut down social media. Because when you’ve got a little bit of information out there it all gets blown out (of proportion), with many different versions and scenarios. There’s so many lies and so much untruth, it’s tough to differentiate what’s true and what’s not true. I’ve just tried to stay away from social media and that’s my way of dealing with all of this.” What does he think are the biggest misconceptions? “The biggest misconception is, the product is amazing. I didn’t realise how good the product was. I think LIV’s an amazing product. We go all around the world, the tournaments are so good. Don’t take me wrong, there’s many things that can improve, but it’s still a start up. It’s only 4 year old. “And how much we all enjoy it out here. You see sometimes on social media that the players hate it and want to come back and that’s not the truth. Players really love it out here and want to make this successful. So I think that’s what I got out of my first 6 weeks.” He then spoke frankly about the communication from LIV Golf’s leadership during this process: “I’m not gonna lie. I think it’s been pretty poor because nobody really knows. I do think that some of the stuff is out of control, even out of the control of the LIV leadership. It comes from way above that. It hasn’t been easy for them to deal with everything and it hasn’t been easy for us as well. “I’m fully supportive of the whole thing. I think the players who stand behind the whole thing as well. But now is the time for this whole league and every player out here to show cohesion and support for this whole thing. I think now is a moment where it’s not the right time to have individualistic people and ego-centric people going their own way. I think if everyone stands for each other and we all give this thing our full support, it’s going to go a long way.” This seems to be the public attitude echoed by most players. They are fully aware of the challenges that lie ahead and want to do everything in their power to make it work. It’s also worth remembering that many of them will only have the Asian Tour to fall back on next season if LIV Golf was to completely shut down. That’s not something Thomas is worried about right now though: “I have full faith in this thing and the future of LIV.” Quotes from a Beyond the Clubhouse episode that is available on YouTube. 🚨👀⛳️ #BREAKING — Bryson DeChambeau says he is prepared to pursue his YouTube channel’s growth and compete in tournaments “that want me” if LIV Golf folds, adding that he has had conversations with the PGA Tour. “I think, from my perspective, I'd love to grow my YouTube channel three times, maybe even more.” “I'd love to do a bunch of dubbing in different languages, giving the world more reason to watch YouTube. And then I'd love to play tournaments that want me.” He admitted that the potential penalties he would face from the PGA Tour would be “quite unfortunate in my opinion, considering what I could do for them.” “I was completely shocked (on PlF pullout), I didn't expect it to happen. A couple months before that, it's like, 'We're here until 2032. We've got financing until 2032, and so I told everybody, and that's what I was told.” “And then, you know, I haven't had any communication. And unfortunately, things are moving on in a different direction. Obviously, they wanted to move.” "There's a few different models (on LIV future). Look, the PGA Tour isn't doing great either. Let's be honest about the situation. They've got the media.” “They've got everybody on the side that helps pump it up. But they're reducing field sizes, cutting employees, and restructuring their business too.” @BrysonLegion (Via: @espn)

Defenders were scarce when Saudi-backed golf first emerged, beyond DP World Tour CEO Keith Pelley, who greenlit a government partnership, and players pocketing millions. We may live in fractured times where moral lines blur, but some boundaries remain unmistakable. People with actual consciences could see them clearly. Then came the manufactured confusion. Bot armies flooded social media. A critical mass of players became regime mouthpieces. Bad-faith actors deployed endless whataboutism. Stakeholders made catastrophic decisions. An artificial divide emerged where clarity had once existed, and apathy set in. The pattern makes sense. Sportswashing and soft-power diplomacy are often misconstrued, believing they are designed to distract you from what’s really going on. On that front, LIV Golf has failed spectacularly. Everyone still knows exactly what Saudi Arabia is. But the real victory came slowly, almost imperceptibly. Professional golf surrendered to exhaustion. Players, fans, media, leaders—all grew so weary they accepted peace at any price. The moral outrage of 2022, briefly reignited during the surprise framework agreement a year later, dissipated into fatigue. Golf's audience had no appetite for a conflict that had consumed endless discourse, especially when confronted with murky global economics and relentless speciousness. Sports are supposed to offer escape, not force confrontation with reality's horrors. Many fans just wanted their sanctuary back. This is sportswashing's true power. It doesn't defeat resistance; it wears you down until you're numb.
Pro Golf Critic@ProGolfCritic

Whatever happened to “Sportswashing” - is that still a term the CGM still uses? Or did they figure out we were on to their game & they abandoned it? Haven’t heard it in a while. 😂
