I love this level of hardware jank. Someone strapped a 3D-printed fan to a $200 V100 server GPU from 2017 and beat a modern RTX 3060 in local inference. 900 GB/s of old HBM2 bandwidth refuses to lose. Memory speed is the only spec that matters ✨

fictional villains always seem kinda over the top but fiction must be written with restraint to maintain believability so does that mean that real villains are even more over the top

Would you rather use programming AI as a VSCode plugin or as a standalone desktop app like Codex?

I am a technologist and a futurist and an AI maximalist, but this should not be misconstrued as a transhumanist. I am pro-death. Lives can be extended, but people need to be able to die. My goal is immortal machines, not immortal Joe Biden. The reasons why should be obvious.

counter point if you cant learn something as simple as tmux/screen then you should not call your self a developer
William Shipley@Willrandship

@max_paperclips if it requires you to learn screen/tmux syntax it's inaccessible to 95% of developers and 99.9% of the population. what you really need is a vnc session

@RhysSullivan I worked on what we called responsive web design back then so most of our stuff was native but yeah the general internet took a couple years to catch up

Remember using websites on the first iPhones? For the first few years so many of them were like this, the entire desktop page crammed into a tiny screen Feels the exact same way with agents using existing products today, especially with computer use
Rhys tweet media
Rhys@RhysSullivan

Building a product today only testing it via the browser & not via an agent is like developing only for desktop and not checking on a phone during the mobile revolution I’m guilty of this also, it’s a really easy trap to fall into but agents are how people use products now

agents are really good at building agents the dspy guys had an idea but its just as effective to apply self improvement as part of the dev cycle define and run task end-to-end, catch trips, iterate+improve

A NAT Gateway costs $0.045/hour plus $0.045 per GB processed. At 10 TB/month of outbound traffic, the processing fee alone is $460. Add the hourly charge of $32.85 and the total is $493 per NAT Gateway per month. A three-AZ setup triples that to $1,479/month before a single byte leaves AWS. Replacing it with VPC Gateway Endpoints for S3 and DynamoDB removes 60-80% of that traffic at zero per-GB cost. Gateway endpoints are free. Engineers focus on egress to the internet and forget that in-region traffic to S3 routed through NAT is the silent killer.
