it will always be free Palestine. Free the Philippines. Free Hawaiʻi. Free Guam. Free Puerto Rico. Free every country that has been forcefully taken by colonization and imperialism.

@TheBrooklynM Normally I'd suggest donating it to a program that supports women in need or crisis (many accept gently used products!) but bc of COVID idk right now

@TheBrooklynM Most makeup brands actually accept returns on all products, even used ones. Their profit margins are so high, they spend more $ on the plastic trays and tubes than the makeup itself

Old foundation made me look like trump. New one makes me look like a ghost. I cannot match my skin color for shit bro bc it’s literally just red.

@OFPuknowitisme @alextumay If a defeatist attitude helps alleviate the guilt of not even trying, I understand. I actually believe that collectively “doing better” can help, and if that seems naive to you that’s okay. Gonna keep trying anyways 🤷🏻‍♀️

@st_evens_ @alextumay So anyone trying to do better, it’s commendable, just as long as we don’t convince ourselves that our way is the solution because that is just not likely.🙏

No matter what "fabric of the future" any fast fashion brand might use, they'll still severely overproduce it. Then add plastic size stickers and hang tags, put it on a disposable plastic hanger, under disposable store signage, and sell it in a disposable bag.

@OFPuknowitisme @alextumay It’s not about eliminating all waste, or creating a perfect system. It’s just about doing better than we are now, and making/using/wasting less.

@OFPuknowitisme @alextumay Yup! But that point is a long ways away, we could cease production for decades and not come close. The numbers can be attributed to many things, but the biggest factors are overproduction & overconsumption.

And the things you absolutely won't wear again? Think beyond donations - a LOT of donated apparel ends up in a landfill. Ask friends or family if anyone wants it, upcycle it into something else, try a resale app, check out local textile recycling programs.

If you really want to buy something, look secondhand first. There's a really good chance someone is selling something VERY similar to what you wanted brand new, if not the exact item.

A reminder that the most sustainable fashion is not buying "eco-conscious" fabrics from "earth-friendly" brands. It's wearing what you already own, it's repairing and mending, it's taking care of your things to make them last.

@OFPuknowitisme @alextumay Nope, just significantly less NEW clothes. Each year about 80 billion new pieces of clothing are consumed globally, and that's just not necessary. That's a 400% increase in just the last 20 years.
