@MiracleMiraJoy Thank you for sharing Mira! It's truly sad to know that's going... It probably still is. Slowly I feel like there is more representation for women in the gaming industry, but it's still rare to see a women. #COMM575 @MediaRhetoric

love for coding and her battle with depression shows that the male gamer world was threatened by a woman like Zoe Quinn. What further illustrates this is how she received emails from people telling her to kill herself because she created Depression Quest. Sadly, she.... #comm575

#comm575 I think Kidd sums up GamerGate perfectly: "GamerGate is essentially a culture war for the soul of the gaming industry." I didn't know what GG was before doing this week's reading, but seeing the reaction my classmates' tweets have gotten on here makes me realize how....

The group was a anonymous, only one male went public for them, and the women helping only get a small percentage for their work. If this was claimed to be a women's group trying to help other women I don't think they would of put out a man to help them #comm575 @MediaRhetoric

In this weeks reading by Kidd excited me since we were getting the scoop on what was going on in the gaming world. Specifically with women and the hatred, disadvantage, and humiliation they get by being a gamer. (1) #COMM575 @MediaRhetoric

And, has some negatives of opening up your profile for privacy fetishm. I've personally have dealt with weird people myself online from creepy men to asking me to be their sugar baby. But, for the purpose of my job I must keep my profile on public. (2) @MediaRhetoric #COMM575

In this weeks reading it discusses the notion of Privacy when it comes to Facebook. It is given to everyone who signs up for the media. But, one can choose to do so or not to. Privacy comes with its positives such as opening up new friends. (1) @MediaRhetoric #comm575

Amongst many college campus apps such as Tinder, Hinge, and Bumble have been a way to connect with others romantically and friendly. Freshman year finding out about the online dating world was so scary! #COMM575 @MediaRhetoric

Reading “Friending, Dating, and Relating” made it clear that online relationships are a thing. To think about a few years ago and this was just such an uncommon thing to do. #COMM575 @MediaRhetoric

@tlowesfsu @MediaRhetoric I agree with you Tiffani! I have even seen this in myself over the years I have had Social Media. Everyone is trying to keep up with the latest feeds, clothing, and music. It's honestly all just apart of the way Social Media is built on advertisement. @MediaRhetoric #COMM575

Last semester I had a similar class that went more in depth with this. The Queer Community for years have built spaces to feel more safer in. This can be bars, cafes, and neighborhood (the Castro for example). #COMM575 @MediaRhetoric

@michelleorteg01 This is so true!! There are some super fans out there for celebrities who live and breath them. Voicing out there views on who they are voting for is a huge impact during this time. Bella Hadid is another prime example. #COMM575 @MediaRhetoric

While Trump may see this as internet play. He talks about serious and disturbing “memes” towards minority groups. Some word that resonated with me is that Trump is normalizing hate... These aren’t funny or normal speeches... #COMM575 @MediaRhetoric (2)

In the section, "Dark Magic: The memes that made Donald Trump's victory" the authors discuss the tragic way in which Donald Trump has made "memes" more into a serious note. The reading refers to the term, meme, to be "internet play." #COMM575 @MediaRhetoric (1)
