A 15-year-old from Southend has recreated some of the city’s most iconic landmarks… in the world of Minecraft! Alex Machon, a young creator, has been building a digital version of Southend inside the hugely popular game - and the results are impressive. So far, Alex has taken on recognisable locations including the Kursaal, Southend Airport, Adventure Island, the High Street and more, carefully rebuilding them block by block inside the game. For those unfamiliar, Minecraft is a video game where players can build almost anything they imagine using virtual blocks. It’s often compared to digital Lego, but on a massive scale - with entire cities, landmarks and even real-world locations recreated by players around the world. Projects like this can take hours, days or even months to complete, especially when aiming for accuracy. Alex shared his progress so far, saying: "It's not completed yet so some areas may look inaccurate or incomplete, but I wanted to share my progress for the people of our area to see." Not gonna go full conspiracy theory but sometimes the only way decisions like this make sense is if the ref actively doesn’t want you to win. You can’t make the decisions he has this game, and the lack of consistency between them, if you don’t have a side that you’re favouring.
