You are in an age bubble. After reading this @NYT article it got me thinking... When was the last time you sat down for a coffee with a person in a different generation? How many of your friends are more than ten years, more than twenty years, older or younger than you? Something I love so much about @GrooveCoworking and Grooving is the way it creates low-stakes opportunities for people of different generations (from all of the world) to connect and share knowledge. Groovers, what’s something you’ve learned in the Groove? Let me know it the comments and tag the person taught you. Can’t wait to read these stories 🧡 nytimes.com/2024/02/18/hea…

Loneliness is a life or death situation. We live in a world of increasing isolation, high demands, and fierce overwhelm. Most people have multiple high-demand responsibilities: they’re running their own business, nurturing their passion projects, and raising their family all while juggling the daily labors of life. And what makes this high-performing loneliness even more painful: you’re loneliness isn’t even seen or recognized by those around you. At @GrooveCoworking we’re helping business owners feel seen by connecting them with people who share their similar values. Read all about how we're making that happen behind the scenes here ➡️ businessinsider.com/social-media-a…

How to feel like opposite of loneliness: 👏 Find Friendly Accountability Partners. These can be friends, neighbors, classmates, people you already share community with. 🌿 Get outside. Go touch grass. Touch a tree. For bonus points: watch the sunset. Spending time in nature can help you feel more connected to your community, and can help regulate your immune system. 🕺🏻Join a Peer Community. It’s very hard for loneliness to exist in communities of people who are going through similar experiences in life. It can be easy to find people who share your interests in a big city, but if you’re struggling to find your people, come find them on @Groove. Thanks to @MentorsColl for letting me state the case for prioritizing human connection over literally everything. mentorscollective.com/solo-entrepren…

The doors are open! @GrooveCoworking is officially open to the world, which means the internet now has a brand new coworking space. But, now that the confetti has settled, what comes after the grand opening? We actually want your feedback Groovers. @heytayhar, Sruli, Tova and I are working on developing new features that help Groovers feel welcomed from the moment they open @GrooveCoworking . (Listen to the asycn linked below for all the details of these features, we think you’ll love them). But we’d love to know what our community has to say. Groovers, comment below. What makes you feel most welcomed in Groove? How do you build strong relationships in Groove? How do you want to meet new people in the Groove? I am so thankful for the outpouring of support that our community shared on social media to celebrate @GrooveCoworking coming out of beta. We’re so excited to be building this with you 🧡 async.com/conversations/…

Pick a Date. And run towards it. At full speed. Nothing catalyzes people’s energy and brings people together like a date, launch, or event. If you need a new burst of energy, or need to reengage your people, pick a date and create new opportunities for meaningful conversation. Last week, @GrooveCoworking launched out of beta, and it was incredible to see our community’s response. And it all started with @heytayhar, Tova Safra, Sruil Rapps and I setting a date. How can you integrate or adapt this strategy into your own business? Let me know how it goes if you decide to embark on your launch 🚀

Reminder: It is just as important to let things go as it is to build new things. Letting go of what no longer serves you makes room for all that nourishes and supports your growth. What do you want to let go of in 2024? What do you want to let in? Let me know in the comments

I love teams, crews, packs, peer groups, and close friend-groups. My whole life I have always invested in various group relationships that serve different aspects of my life and it has always served me well. But in our increasingly isolated world, discovering, cultivating, or even creating meaningful group relationships can be a struggle. If you’re wanting to create a new community here are some steps to help you get started ⬇️ 1️⃣ Pick an area in life that you already have some community, but would like to expand. Bonus points if people in that community also want to expand! 2️⃣ Create a regular and organic happening. This could be in real life or online (like on @GrooveCoworking). 3️⃣ Create a dedicated space for conversation outside the session. WhatsApp groups have been great for me 4️⃣ Propose the happening as an experiment. See how it goes after a month or two. Chances are people are will want to keep the experiment going 🚀 Try this out with a fitness goal, a study routine, a shared experience (like first time parents), or with a hobbies and niche interests. Let me know how it goes (or if you have any other tips) in the comments.

This is one of the greatest displays of the creative process I've seen. It perfectly demonstrates something known as the "Creativity Faucet." When you go to the studio, John Mayer was asked, what do you do to generate ideas? “Well, I don’t always do it,” he admitted, “because it requires a stupid bravery all the time.” He strums a couple chords without singing. A nice melody begins to form—“you can sit here all day [doing this] and go, ‘Okay, maybe that’s something.'” “But if you don’t go,” and then he improvises vocals, “Sunlights beating on the corner of the walls / and I’m a Mr. know-it-all / heaven calls / get yourself right / get yourself right,” he stops playing, raises his finger to his mouth, and explains, “if you’re not ouija boarding immediately, you’re wasting time.” “You just stare at the corner of the wall,” he says, before he improvises some more, “Stare at the corner of the wall / try to get it going on / but I can’t sometimes / you just keep going 'til you get something / maybe I’m a little bit shy / maybe someday I’ll tell you why,” he stops singing, “you gotta keep forcing it, forcing it, forcing it.” “It doesn’t matter [what comes out of your mouth]...You gotta get fearless, fearless, fearless, fearless…It’s hard to do.” Takeaway 1: In the clip, we see John Mayer's ability to generate vocals steadily increase. It's a perfect display of what Julian Shapiro—who (among other things) is incredible at deconstructing how things like creativity work—calls the “Creativity Faucet.” Essentially, creativity works like “a backed-up pipe of water,” Shapiro writes. “The first mile is packed with wastewater. This wastewater must be emptied before the clear water arrives.” At the beginning of a creative session, almost always, bad ideas come out of the faucet first. The John Mayers of the world have the discipline and “a stupid bravery,” as Mayer said, to get through the backed-up pipe of bad ideas, to empty the wastewater, to “just keep going 'til you get something,” as he sang. Takeaway 2: To let out bad ideas, to empty the waste water, Mayer said, you have to “get fearless, fearless, fearless.” In another interview, Mayer was asked how he defines writer’s block. “Writer’s block,” he said, “is when the two people inside of you—the writer and the reader—when the reader doesn’t love the writer. Writer’s block is not a failure to write. It is a failure to catch the feedback loop of enjoying what you’re seeing and wanting to contribute more to it.” A creative block is not a failure to create. It is a failure to accept that you must empty a lot of bad ideas before good ideas can flow. It is a failure to get fearless, fearless, fearless, fearless. - - - “You gotta keep forcing it, forcing it, forcing it...You gotta get fearless, fearless, fearless, fearless.” — John Mayer Follow @bpoppenheimer for more content like this!

Socializing ritual is the most important key to success. We see Groover’s businesses, relationships, and lives transform when they show up to the Groove everyday. Like @SethGodinBlog says, “The speed of our forward motion is directly related to the velocity of the people around us.” 🚀 Surround yourself with great people. Do great things together. See how far you all can go. seths.blog/2023/11/study-…

If you want to live a more integrated life between work and the rest of your life, you need more boundaries, not less 👀 Most of the creative entrepreneurs I know tend to be integrators. They bring people together. They think collaboratively. They’re imaginative. They’re visionaries. They’re connectors of dots. Separators are more attuned to the differences between ideas, actions, and people. They know how to set boundaries. They know how to say no (which is just as powerful as skill as saying, yes.) Between these two groups, who do you think would be most successful at remote work? According to research by @DrKritiBharti , it’s actually separators are more likely to succeed in remote work environments because they’re able to maintain the boundaries that support creative work. If you’re struggling to make remote work work for you, consider this: 1. Create physical boundaries between where you live and where you work. If you’re working from your dining room table, work in one chair, and eat in the other. Or, close the door to the office. This separation of space is super helpful for your mind and body to settle into work. 2. Create rituals around work. At the beginning of your day light a candle or make a cup of tea. At the end of your day, take a walk or a bath or whatever you need to wind down. This will help regulate your work day, especially if you’re on a team of one. 3.Integrate #timeblocking and the #pomodoromethod to help you create boundaries around your time within your calendar. @GrooveCoworking is an excellent resource to help you with this 🪩

I was Grooving with Megan Watson and her to goal for the was "Gentle Productivity." It was such a great reminder that we don’t always have to move towards our goals with force or great pressure. Actually, moving towards our goals gently care unlocks more possibility.
