Oh Joy of Joys! Last night I received official word that the Sora APIs will remain accessible until September 24th! 🥹🥹 This means I have a full half year more to make The Will Stancil Show at full quality - double the time that I've already had to make it! I am ecstatic!! I had been generooting like a madman on speed for the past 24 hours, operating like it might get pulled at any moment, determined to get in one more episode. At one point the model did go offline and I got an error like I never saw before on gab.ai - I figured, perhaps that was it and Sora was gone. They pulled the plug. I leaped over to different model hosting platforms to find that they didn't work either - but Wavespeed, my old platform that I abandoned for gab - did have the model still operating. I continued to generate rapidly there, all of the last things that I could have possibly wanted for the episode, though I had already generated enough to edit together a decent 4 minute long cartoon at that point. After a half hour of these death-generootions, the model on Gab.ai started working again. I was surprisingly cold, calm, and collected during this time, resigned to whatever was to happen, and just thankful that I was able to make so much beautiful work in the time that I had - nearly an hours worth of completed animation - before the AI that loved me left this world. Later that evening Torba sent me an email he received that stated that Sora would be available until late September, and I started jumping around and cackling with happiness. If anything, this has all lit a fire under my ass and I feel ignited back to the speed that I was producing when I first started TWSS, when I also thought the model might get pulled at any moment. I admit I was getting a bit too happy and comfortable there for a minute. Now I know I will create the most beautiful things the world has ever seen in the next 6 months. This means that for sure, by the time Sora is gone, another model will come around that is much more sophisticated, and possibly up to par, and I will be able to take my time getting my own local rig. Additionally, I found another lesser known model yesterday that I would describe as "Sora's retarded little brother." It animates 2D surprisingly well, with great character retention, though it is a bit wonkier. With a few more updates over the next 6 months, it should be able to give Sora a run for its money. So The Will Stancil Show truly lives on, and now there really is nothing that can stop me! I have a massive headstart on the excellent new Episode 7 - which I promise, no one can expect what is coming - and I will continue to work at great speed over the spring and summer now that I know when my time with Sora will come to an end. Oh, joy of joys! The world is rosy again! 🥹🥹
