Pretty pleased to have found this Yellow-browed Warbler on the Uni of Kent campus in Canterbury today. Unfortunately did not see it (no camera or bins!) but managed to get this audio recording

Moved into the Uni of Kent on Saturday, so won’t be in Essex for a while! Although on Sunday had a small trip to Dungeness where I saw Red-necked Phalarope, Little Gull, Red-throated Diver and 2 lifers in the form of Pomarine Skua and Balearic Shearwater!

Yesterday at the Naze - awesome to see the Wryneck (my second in 2 days!), Red-backed Shrike, and a nice showy Wheatear @EssexBirdNews

Awesome day at Minsmere seeing the Wryneck (just?) 2 Wheatear, 1 Redstart briefly, Willow Emerald Damselfly, and this strange warbler that’s probably a Reed warbler but seems to have an unusually short bill?

Very pleased to have caught this Beautiful Marbled moth in my trap in North Essex today! A rare migrant with records in the hundreds and especially rare this far inland!

Awesome to see the Purple Heron at Gifford’s Flash, my first in the UK and only 20 minutes from my house! Didn’t show too well however…

The Naze quick but very productive sea watch from around 9:45 to 11:00 Long tailed skua 1 south, another possible north Arctic skua north 5 close in gannet, many more far out Kittiwake 3 pintail @EssexBirdNews

Awesome few days in Norfolk, did a bit of seawatching where I saw Fulmar, lots of Gannets, Arctic Skua and a lifer Sooty Shearwater! And then onto Holme Dunes where I unfortunately missed the White-rumped Sandpiper but saw a Pied Flycatcher and found a Whinchat!

Set the moth trap up for the first time in a while and got this very fluffy Poplar Hawk Moth!

Nice to catch up again with the Canvasback now it’s returned at Abberton, also had a quick visit to Old Hall where there was at least 15 Spotted Redshank on Irongate. @EssexBirdNews

Awesome day at Minsmere finding this Curlew Sandpiper, lots of Spotted Redshanks, 4 Little Gull and a Hobby which dive-bombed the scrape!

Had a couple days in Brighton seeing an Arctic Skua and Bottlenose Dolphins from the Marina, on the way back stopped at Oare Marshes and picked up a lifer in the form of the long-staying Bonaparte’s Gull!

Did not expect to see a juvenile Whinchat today on the short walk path at Old Hall Marshes! Potentially bred locally, considering the out of season female reported at the site last month? @EssexBirdNews

A very sandpipery visit to Blue House Farm today seeing the Pectoral Sandpiper, Wood Sandpiper, 2 distant Curlew Sandpipers, and a Green Sandpiper. Saw Common Sandpiper too but not photographed @EssexBirdNews

Last couple of days in wales had good views of Manx Shearwater, Chough, Whinchat and Red Squirrel!
