@psychicvsmpire will and el having smaller genuine interactions here too was something i also appreciated! these kids who have been dealing with monsters since they’re twelve actively preparing and fighting back (which they also do in varying degrees in S3/4) was great to see.

right off the bat mike mentions the opening of starcourt mall memorial day weekend and something as small as that showed the that the writers understand these characters LIVE in hawkins

–if you’re still feeling particularly burned by the finale, i suggest giving the show a chance. is it childish? yes. is it contrived at points? also yes. but it actually cares about being authentic to the source material in a way the final season doesn’t even want to attempt.

i absolutely loved TF85 btw. care went into the show esp. the worldbuilding and characterization. the staff writers from the main show should be proud of their effort + being animated is a testament to the storytelling, (a lot of prep goes into animation!) i had a great time–
