@silky_puff it’s definitely fandoms dependent what counts as a lot of kudos but it’s still crazy that ppl rely on that so much. like 50 kudos is a lot!

it’s very confusing watching people think under 500 kudos is a small amount of kudos on a fic… are people only in big fandoms and only reading for bigger ships?? have some people never had a rarepair or just been in a small fandom??

@Mac_Pudding i usually start there out of curiosity but with big fandoms, i almost always use tags to get what i like specifically pretty quickly. but like, when i first started reading mistynat, we didn’t even have 300 fics yet, so i just went through the tag without nothing lol

@stardustalien16 I thought it was AO3 101 to not sort by kudos. I learned that pretty early. I didn't even consider big fandoms lol.

@abigailblossoms yeah ppl can’t read everything. if you’re writing for a popular ship during a time it’s getting a lot of new fics posted, you could do everything right and still get overlooked bc there’s just So Much. that’s why in big fandoms, i filter by tags a lot more than i do w small ones

@stardustalien16 for sure, have to adjust to fandom size, ship popularity, whether the show is currently airing/on hiatus/over etc. but honestly, i would think even with big fandoms/popular ships, some select ones might blow up, but imagine how many gems get buried and missed in a really busy tag

@abigailblossoms oh for sure lol! what counts as ‘good’ stats on any fic is so fandom specific (and don’t even matter bc there are amazing fics that never got attention for whatever reason)
