78 Bangladeshi workers who had been working in Saudi Arabia returned home on Ethiopian Airlines, transiting through Ethiopia before heading to Bangladesh. When they arrived at Shah Jalal Airport, they were shocked to discover that some of their luggage locks had been broken and items were missing, causing widespread anger. They blamed the airline, which had handled their baggage throughout the trip. Some of them were seen crying after losing the results of years of hard work abroad.

According to the statement, the suspects were actively working to advance the agendas of armed terrorist and extremist groups operating in the forests. They had established connections with these groups, armed themselves, and were conspiring to disrupt the country’s peace and security, as well as to sabotage the upcoming national election. President Isaias Afwerki received, at the Denden Guest House in the early evening hours today, credentials of the Ambassadors of Japan and India (both Resident); and, the Ambassadors of Brazil, Slovakia, Canada, Thailand and Armenia (Non-Resident) respectively. The Ambassadors conveyed messages of goodwill from their Heads of State and Government to President Isaias Afwerki and expressed the readiness of their countries to enhance all-rounded ties of bilateral cooperation. In statements to the Eritrean News Agency, the Ambassadors of India and Canada emphasized the commitment of their respective countries to promote and consolidate development cooperation and partnership with Eritrea in various sectors.
