With spring in full swing, RCDA was proud to join the Forest Regional Residents' Civic Association this past weekend for a litter cleanup & flower planting along Forest Avenue. Thanks to all who joined us for your commitment to our community & for beautifying our beloved borough!

Shaping young hearts and minds, our borough's teachers continually go above and beyond inside and out of the classroom. As we recognize Teacher Appreciation Week, I would like to thank our extraordinary educators for all they do for Staten Island's students and families!

My office had the pleasure of joining our borough's interfaith & law enforcement leaders last week for Staten Island's 27th annual "Community Days" celebration! Thanks to Imam Tahir & Dr. Lori Weintrob for continuing this meaningful tradition & congrats to this year's honorees!

Keeping our young people active & engaged is integral to public safety. Proud to join @Charlesdfall, @NYSenator_JSS, P.S. 57 Principal Singleton & community partners last week to announce $6.5 million secured to construct & complete a year-round athletic dome in Park Hill!

Joining the great herald of lung health, RN Nancy Rooney, CPU today presented our anti-vaping workshop & THC impairment simulator exercise at the @RUMCSI Anti-Vaping Ambassador Training II. We applaud the students enrolled in this important program who are making a difference.

Tonight, CPU stopped by the PTA meeting of @SI_Academy to share with parents our presentation on the effects of social media. Thank you Head of School Dr. Corigliano, staff and families for helping us further our efforts to make the digital space safer for children.

RCDA was delighted to congratulate DSNY Police’s Lt. Anthony Rizzo on his retirement & welcome Officer Daniel Uske as the new liaison for illegal dumping. We thank Lt. Rizzo for his service & look forward to working with Officer Uske to preserve SI’s cleanliness & integrity!

On Saturday Randall Manor Tavern was buzzing with love & encouragement for Colleen Valcarcel, a woman who embodies the spirit of West Brighton. It was a joy to rally alongside Colleen’s friends & family to support this wonderful member of our community during her time of need.

It’s a beautiful day at New Dorp High School! CPU visited today to speak to 9th graders about the dangers & potential criminality of social media. Thank you again Principal Schoenfeld, AP Gurrieri & staff for continuing to partner in our effort to help students act safer online.

On Saturday I was privileged to join loved ones of Vietnam Veteran Thomas Magliocca to commemorate the life of service & unending love he led. Thank you @KamillahMHanks for honoring Tom’s heroism & the indelible mark he left on our island through this street co-naming ceremony!

Continuing our outreach to parents, CPU tonight presented our social media safety workshop at @IS72RLBulldogs. Thank you Principal Jackson, AP Benitez, Title 1 Advisory Committee Chair Ms. Miller & parents for the invitation to share our tips for keeping kids safe online.

Providing resilient & reliable energy, RUMC's Co-Gen Power Plant will ensure that one of our borough's major healthcare providers can continue to serve Staten Island for decades to come. I was proud to join @RUMCSI & @SIBPVito earlier today to unveil this critical infrastructure.

It was a wet but wonderful celebration of the life of a beloved pediatrician at this weekend’s street co-naming ceremony recognizing Dr. Melvin Koplow. Thank you to @frankmorano for organizing this honor & ensuring Dr. Koplow’s name & contributions to SI are never forgotten!

Political violence has no place in our country. Grateful to the heroic men and women of the Secret Service for apprehending this gun-toting madman & for ensuring the health and safety of the President, First Lady & all attendees from Saturday's White House Correspondents' dinner.

On Saturday I had the pleasure of joining hundreds of Staten Islanders as they rallied & raced in the Annual Rory Bea & Arnie O 5k. Thank you to RUMC for organizing this meaningful memorial each year & bringing our community together to support an exceptionally worthwhile cause.
