A life of service to both country and city. Rest in peace, Officer Sorffly Davius. Keeping his family and the NYPD in our prayers.

The NYPD mourns the loss of Police Officer Sorffly Davius, who passed away yesterday as a result of a medical episode while deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Epic Fury. Officer Davius served in the 42nd Infantry Division in the U.S. Army National Guard and rose to the rank of Major. In 2014, he began his service with the NYPD where he was assigned to the 79th Precinct. Today, and always, we keep his family in our thoughts and prayers. May we never forget Officer Davius’ sacrifice and may his memory be a blessing.

I unequivocally condemn the assault on @NYPDnews officers in Washington Square Park. Our city cannot normalize crowds attacking uniformed officers. I stand firmly with the men and women of the NYPD and support full accountability for those responsible.

Statement from DEA President Scott Munro: “What we saw in Washington Square Park today was not harmless fun — it was a deliberate, outrageous, and dangerous attack on uniformed police officers. The Detectives’ Endowment Association is calling on Mayor Mamdani and District Attorney Bragg to ensure every individual responsible for this illegal behavior is prosecuted. No free pass. No get out of jail free card. Make no mistake: detectives will do what they always do. They will identify those involved and they will apprehend them. Our men and women in blue deserve to be safe. They deserve to be protected. And they deserve to be respected. They earn it every single day.”
