@avila74374 @MatrixMysteries Fair Plan just covers damage from fire and wind, your other insurance is for water damage, liability and other perils excluding fire & wind. Fair Plan offers replacement cost but recently started removing it for things like overgrown trees and a lot of people don't even know.

@TahoeSux @MatrixMysteries That is the smart way to cut costs. Even with a higher deductible you still have the proper coverage for a catastrophic loss.

@staticdazzle @MatrixMysteries 100%. I took a large deductible at my pain threshold to reduce premium cost ($5K I think), but kept huge loss of use coverage and replacement coverage with code upgrades. I'm in a HCOL part of CA. Probably still underinsured, but I'd have $800K for home build costs.
