A presentation by Ms. Aishath Hassan, Chief Statistician from the Maldives Bureau of Statistics (MBS) provided an overview of integration and coordination between MBS and the Department of National Registration on civil registration.
The session outlined current collaboration, key needs, and challenges, with a focus on improving data sharing, strengthening interoperability and ensuring more accurate and timely population data for planning and service delivery.

We will be launching 1st round of Household Income and Expenditure Survey 2026 at greater Male’ region from 27th onwards. Our teams will be visiting selected households, and we kindly seek your full cooperation and support during this important exercise.
All our enumerators will be wearing official MBS ID cards during field work.
We appreciate the support extended by all households for this important survey.

By 2062, only 6 atolls will have more than 10,000 Maldivians. As locals migrate, foreign populations rise over 50% in V. Atoll and 36% in Addu City.

In 2022, foreign men outnumbered Maldivian men by 17,000 in the 25–29 age group. By 2062, this gap is projected to widen, reaching 40,000 in each of the key working-age groups.

In collaboration with @statsmaldives, conducted a Workshop on the Tourism Statistics Survey today. The session highlighted enhancements to the survey form, including expanded energy data to support GHG inventories and ETF reporting. The Tourism Statistics Survey 2024 is underway, and resorts, hotels, guesthouses, and safari vessels are requested to submit responses via: tourismsurvey.stats.gov.mv
