Over the past two days in Reggio Emilia, I have seen first hand the power of nature and creativity that put human connection at the centre of a child’s world. I have had such a deeply moving and unforgettable time here. Thank you to the people of Reggio Emilia for welcoming me into a culture of care with such warmth and generosity. #UNESCO is appalled by the attack on a school in Shukeiri, Sudan, where a drone strike reportedly killed schoolgirls and teachers. Educational institutions are protected spaces under international humanitarian law. They should never be targeted, attacked, or repurposed for military use. In accordance with its mandate and with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2601 (2021), @UNESCO recalls the obligations of all parties to protect schools, students, and education personnel.
