In Painter is there a way to merge texture sets into one texture on export? Lets say I have the tongue as a separate tex set from the body to easily hide it, but its in the same uv map and should be in the same texture. It will export as two separate textures.

@henningsanden Depending on how much you want to optimize, symmetrical textures can still be used. You can hide the symmetry with some tricks, like having arms and legs symmetrical and face and chest asymmetrical. Or you can layer props on top, like a shoulder pad in example.

Is it the standard for characters games to be made with mirrored UVs? Meaning, there's no asymmetry in the textures? If so, whats the best way to add variation, a new texture set with decals?

I spent a long time trying to make a system that would animate procedurally the pauldrons of my Space Marine model. I had to learn many things about rigging and technical animation, most important of all, bones should have correct and consistent orientation.
