@David_Kitchen_ Thanks Dave, that makes sense. For me, that Pertwee story is definitely “Monster…”. Either way, they’re pretty clearly both at the bottom of the Pertwees, I’d say.

#ReadingDiary and I’ve been averaging 2 chapters a day, meaning I’m about 3/4 of the way through. If I keep this pace up I may well be able to squeeze a second book in for January…!!!

@steedstylin But as an Agent of Chaos, someone who can cut through the pomposity & ego of The Doctor, and as a tool to hold up the show’s mechanics in a mirror and then shatter them, then yes I can appreciate that, and why she’s so popular.

@FelixFrazer I tend to agree with you so far on all points, except about Iris. The character is inspired and I love how she disrupts the narrative of Doctor Who in every story she appears.
Paul Magrs really is wonderful, and I really do believe he is the great author of the Wilderness Years

@steedstylin …it’s set in & is not above poking fun at its foibles as part of a glorious celebration of all things Pertwee Era. There’s real warmth when it comes to these characters.
It’s also clear this is an Iris Wildthyme book rather than Dr Who one & I’m not sure of mileage on her yet.
