I’m beyond thrilled to announce this year’s Woman of the Year for California’s Nineteenth Assembly District: Lesley Hu!

Had a fantastic time meeting with cub scouts (future members of the Boy Scouts Troop 14!) and was so impressed by their curiosity and enthusiasm for government. It’s inspiring to see young leaders eager to learn about civic engagement and the work we do to serve our communities!

I was grateful for the opportunity to be with this community, celebrate their contributions to our region, and share how I will be advocating for their legislative priorities in the State Assembly.

Last night, I was honored to join the Armenian National Committee of America for their annual Hye Tad banquet as their featured guest speaker.

It’s women who continue to lead the fight against attacks on our most vulnerable communities. And it will be women who refuse to back down in the face of injustice. That’s why we’re here today—because when women lead, we all win.

I’m also so grateful for the perspective women bring to positions of power. Women have always been at the forefront of meaningful change. It’s women who refuse to accept that my daughter is growing up in a country with fewer rights than I had at her age.

Their leadership—whether in local government, our state Capitol, or the halls of Congress—has shaped policies that uplift communities and protect fundamental rights.

As a woman in public office, I’m so grateful to those who came before me. The progress we’ve made wouldn’t be possible without the trailblazing women who refused to accept the status quo and broke barriers.

Today, we celebrate the incredible strength and resilience of women.
