If we do get to 22C, that's roughly the 75th percentile 850mb temperature for August.

The red line on the chart is the highest 850 mb temperature observed for that day. The black line is the median. The shaded area is the IQR (25th-75th percentile).

☝️🤓850 mb temperatures (measured by weather balloons at roughly 5,000 feet alt.) have been unprecedented for March. They will actually increase a bit through Friday, reaching ~2.8 standard deviations above the mean. 🧵

@chrishe10347730 Thank you for reporting your data! It is very helpful. Two days 90F+ so far in March is impressive. Yep, for the period of record the only Gilroy report of 90F was March 20, 1997. April 1989 heat wave produced five day stretch of 90F+ temperatures Gilroy site April 6th-10th.

@NWSBayArea Hi! I know you have no official wx station in Morgan Hill or Gilroy so I I’d share this. My sensor is is 150 feet away from cement. Green vegetation all around so there is no urban heat effect. Records go back to April 1983.

We also set 2 monthly records, at Richmond and Salinas

@MontereyBay_Fog @RobMayeda Monterey coop site (private property) decommissioned. Over at Monterey Airport, data availability period of record < 30 years too short to report extremes. Elevation difference between two stations precludes use of weather data for comparison in either warm season or cool season.

🚨Numerous daily temperature records were broken today, with more expected tomorrow! 🌞 Salinas Airport set its March record with 93, beating 92 set on March 14th 2015, and was tied yesterday. #CAwx

@NewWxEnthusiast We do have a long term climate site in Livermore that goes back to 1903, but the observer hasn't sent in their numbers yet. The daily record there is 86 and the monthly is 90. Both are in jeopardy.

@NewWxEnthusiast 88 at LVK broke the daily record of 84 from 2004 and set a monthly record, breaking 86 set 3/29/15. We don't consider LVK a long term climate site, since reliable observations only go back to 1999.

@GamingWithMarc7 @RobMayeda 'San Jose' is the instrument at the airport, and it tied their daily record at 87.
