@blvdmitry I don’t recall anything being very “feature specific”, that was the purpose of it in the first place. Although it’s probably a little outdated to newer systems, given we started work on it in 2016!

It's so exciting to see our Design System at Booking.com grow from just a few people to more than 20 people over the past few years. One thing I’m very grateful for in my current situation is that I don’t actually need to find the right values for the whole palette. I only need the semantic token layer which means sometimes I can just pick the correct lightness with an absolute value and then adjust the values relative to it based on the color brightness and it should work. In theory 😂

This has escalated quickly. Trying to figure out the closest I can get to good looking semantic colors while still relying on HSL and doing automatic normalizing. So I've taken base colors from multiple public color palettes and experimenting with random ideas

@steffanwilliams But you didn’t lose? It increased in value and you were always going to have to pay the mortgage… some renter just helped you out a little so you had to pay less than you expected

@grxnt I did, it’s just hard to fit into tweets. Bought for 117. Mortgage was £200 a month. To switch to BTL, increased to £650 a month. Rent was £350 a month, and then management fees were £50 a month. Then taxes. I’d have been better off without renting it, and leaving it empty.

@steffanwilliams That’s the point though, i don’t think people should own multiple homes to rent out and profit from others who can’t afford a deposit (of course there are exceptions)

@steffanwilliams In my hypothetical world, aye 😂 Let’s say you lived in it for 10 years and someone rented it for 6 months… they’d only get a portion that equals there time there - so probably not a lot to you but a nice sun for them especially if they rented lots of places for the past 10yr

@steffanwilliams Nope, cause you still get the value of the house back right (if you bought for 100k, you still have 100k) that someone else has mostly paid off But they’d get a share of the profit so it’s an investment for everyone (and they can potentially use that towards their deposit)

@grxnt I think ultimately I lost money. I bought for 117, solid for 127, but over the course of renting it out, was losing £300 a month.
