Do you know what data is being collected
— YES or NO❓
Under VRC-5, you might never find out.
VRC-5 contains a critical design flaw: it does not require public documentation of data schemas.
Because without public schemas:
– DLPs can silently change data scope.
– Consent becomes meaningless.
– Abuse becomes undetectable.
VRC-5 itself acknowledges this risk:
“Public data schemas… provide essential transparency... These benefits outweigh any potential risks.” — VRC-5, Security & Privacy Considerations
Despite this, the Foundation maintains:
“We strongly encourage public publication of schemas … it is not required under VRC-5.”
This isn’t just a technical interpretation. It’s a loophole kept open by design.
There’s no requirement for versioning.
No assurance of auditability.
No baseline for user awareness or oversight.
When schema transparency is optional, so is user awareness.

@YKYRnow Oh,clearly noted...
We need @Hashlock_ to look further on this case...

Privacy policies describe, in broad terms, what kinds of data are collected and how they’re used—but they don’t always reflect the actual fields being collected. That’s why we publish our data schema, which provides a transparent, technical definition of the data being gathered.
The problem arises when a malicious DLP updates the schema without disclosure—or when no schema is published at all. In such cases, users have no way of knowing what is actually being collected, regardless of what the privacy policy says. And the fact that the Foundation has left that loophole unaddressed is part of the problem.

Nggak usah baca sinopsis, nggak usah baca review, nggak usah nonton trailer. Langsung nonton aja di bioskop. Please. Thank me later. Salah satu film horor paling original, paling bangsat selama beberapa tahun terakhir. Wake up call buat kita pembuat film horor yang itu itu aja. Gila lah. ARRGHHHHH

If someone quotes you a price for your personal data today, check again tomorrow.
Yesterday I caught up with a friend, an old colleague who used to broker data. She said something that stuck: Browser data is tanking. In-app and chat interface data is booming.
It tracks. Most of us don't "surf the web" anymore. We live in native apps. We think in LLM chats. The browser is mostly where work happens, not life. So the best representation of "me" isn't there.
It’s a good reminder: data isn’t static, and neither is its value. The value of human-sourced data moves with behavior, behavior is changing fast.
