@CollingsMaccrae @bsnakbooks It is sad. I think it's because most people are petty, self-centered, and full of sh*t lol. That's life lol. I don't talk with friends or family about my writing. I learned that lesson long ago.

@SteffenJack84 @bsnakbooks It’s sad but true. No one in my family reads my books. 5 years after pubbing 4 books, my sister’s best friend saw me and said, “How did I not know you wrote books?” Can’t figure it out, but it’s common.

I am in disbelief that so many “ friends” don’t even respond to my book launch invite. And many more can’t give a straight answer if they are coming. What is so hard about responding and simply saying idk or not coming?

@TaniaAMarshall My 'following' has been on a short loop for almost a week. It's been broken for months but now it's worthless. 'For you' is the only place to go, but that's full of BS no one asked for. Lists may be the only solution, but I don't know if I care enough to curate that lol.

@mjvalentour Been there. Three books, nearly 100 queries, five requests, years of waiting, conferences, contests, you name it, no cigar. Trad is rough and nearly impossible to break into. Now I self-publish, my books are out there, and I'm happier for it.

@CJSimone333 I've seen/heard enough people say that page count is related to cost that I'd think about it. They'd say, a novella should cost less than a novel, etc. I don't know about formatting.

Asking another way. In Word my historical retelling is 317 pages (not a short book at 83k words), but formatted version is only 280 pages, which gives the impression of a short book. Should I ask for it to be at least 300 pages? Or do you think short actually sells better?

@SteffenJack84 Sounds like an interesting story. How is the cover doing? Would an abstract drawing have been better or a different cover image?

@RachelCGoodhand @MTGraveStudio I know it. It was dangerous digging up my old notes because I have other projects, years worth. The plotting is crazy complicated though. Landing it would be quite an accomplishment.

Inspired by @MTGraveStudio and a bit of nostalgia, I got a set of choose your own adventures. Years ago I wrote a partial plot with copious notes for an adult version. Normally they're in second person, but I would write it in third. It's been fun reading. #writingcommunity
