Businesses reduced to ashes after deadly night fire rips through Waruku estate
Several families in Waruku Estate in Kangemi, Nairobi, are trying to recover after a huge fire destroyed homes and businesses on Monday night, May 25, 2026.
The fire left many residents stranded, with some spending the night outside in the cold after losing nearly everything they owned.
According to reports shared by local leaders, the fire spread quickly through the crowded estate, where houses are built close to each other. At least 20 houses and 11 businesses were destroyed during the incident.
The affected businesses included small shops and kiosks that many families depended on for daily income.
Videos shared online showed large flames lighting up the sky as residents rushed to save their belongings. Some people were seen carrying mattresses, household items, and electronics while others tried to help neighbors escape the fast-moving fire. The situation caused panic across the area as smoke covered parts of the estate.
Kileleshwa Ward MCA Robert Alai confirmed the scale of the destruction and said many families had been displaced. Residents expressed sadness over the losses, saying some people lost all their property within a short time.
The Nairobi Fire Department responded to the emergency and managed to contain the blaze before it spread to more homes nearby. Their efforts helped prevent an even bigger disaster in the densely populated neighborhood.
By Tuesday morning, authorities had not yet confirmed what caused the fire.
Investigations are expected to begin as officials work to establish how the incident started.
Fortunately, no deaths had been officially reported by the time of the update, though several families were left without shelter and facing an uncertain future.

I really am Curious & want to know what Jesus Christ was upto at age 13 to 29 cus The Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) provide substantial details about Jesus Christ’s life. However, there is a significant 18-year gap known as the “Lost Years” between the ages of 12 and 30, during which there are no biblical or historical records of where Jesus was or what he was doing.
This mystery has puzzled scholars and Christians for centuries. While various theories (often based on religious beliefs, folklore, and speculation) have tried to fill the gap, nothing is known for certain.
