@Itsreginayo Definitely stemrust! This would be the ‘oat version’, P. graminis f.sp. avenae. You can find stem rust on various grasses this time of year, eg foxtail barley.

Found what looks like rust on oats at our GME site in Slater, IA. Wondering if anyone knows the exact type causing infection?

The weirdest "ear" of corn I've ever seen. A corn variety called CML 287 from Ciudad de México growing in Nebraska. Each “kernel” is a modified floret. Thanks for showing me this @Chidu_ullagaddi.

When you grow up in “da nordth” (eg Michigan) you don’t think twice about stepping off the trail. Not so much in the south and mid-south. Beautiful copperhead my daughter and I found at Babler State Park, Wildwood, MO. This is a no touch situation.

@plantdisease @Bayer4Crops I really enjoyed helping facilitate this session. We had a great discussion and it was a blast chatting with the participants about the interviewing process.

The job posting for the Systems Analyst role in my team closes later this week. I'm looking for a plant scientist with a strong data science background. This is a key role for the group and helps set our data and imaging strategy. jobs.bayer.com/job-invite/795…

The workshop will consist of a short presentation on the process, followed by small break-out sessions where one can practice with experienced Bayer employees. Registration is through the normal APS meeting registration system. Hope to see some of you there!

Happy to announce that @Bayer4Crops is sponsoring a workshop at @plantdisease Plant Health 2023 (Aug. 12th / Sat.) on the Behavioral Based Interview Process! This is a common format used by Bayer and other companies and most young professionals are not familiar with it.

When you raise your children not to fear bugs and they befriend the creepiest of crawlies… I wouldn’t even pick one of these up.

@Natlovesplants Love the D. capensis sundew in the back! Great for catching fungus gnats. Looks like you’re about to have a few seeds.

@kyledhamilton_ I’m going to stay out of the CA vs TX debate, but could envision IL and MI partnering up to take over WI, IN, and then go after OH, KY, MO, etc. In reality, AK would of course be nearly impossible to invade and could hold out for a long time.

Just saw a TikTok that recommended avoiding drinking water because it causes “acidity” and “weight gain”, so I think it’s time to log off of the internet for the day.
