@Not_markl Peak Novak at 36? You have no shame 😂 Yes he won 3 slams, but doesn’t mean he was at his peak.

This is how good Sinner already is on grass. Alcaraz beat peak Djokovic to win his first Wimbledon. Then Sinner easily beat Alcaraz to win his first, then went back-to-back, not even playing his best tennis. Insane

Sinner return is goating now. Probably takes the next two sets with a break in each set. Hope I am wrong.

@tonester27 Tell me, did he play like that in the SFs? Yes, he got lucky with Musetti, but against Sinner he was another player.

@stepen14 Ohhh -he was down 0-2 sets to Musetti who got injured… 🤕- was that cause Novak was playing so well?

People saying that Novak beating Sinner in Australia was a fluke, forget that Novak played much better there than in Wimbledon. I think most people that watched Wimbledon could agree that he never actually played well. In Australia he could stay with Sinner in the rallies.

@scottgumbleton @BenRothenberg Well that is because you don’t like him. Cause he is so much more interesting to listen to than most other players.

Novak Djokovic lost in a match without too much flavor at Wimbledon on Friday, but his press conference--both in English and in Serbian--got fairly spicy. Read it all--the Serbian-to-English translation included--at Bounces: benrothenberg.com/p/novak-djokov…

@stepen14 Conversely, you could say Sinner played better at Wimbledon than at AO!

@BenRothenberg He is much more honest with serbian press, and goes often a lot more in depth.

Very glad to see how much this particular post has resonated...investing in getting Djokovic's remarks professionally translated from Serbian is something I've been proud to be able to do at Bounces over the last year-plus, and this one may be the most illuminating of all. ☺️

@QGaslighter It’s true what you say, but still I don’t agree. He was completely overpowered in rallies in Wimby. That was not the case in AO. Shot tolerance was there, at least when it was needed. Yesterday he was destroyed. Sinner was more sharp than in AO, and Novak was worse.

@stepen14 It's downstream of missing his chances. In AO, he took the first half chance he got in every set. In Wimby, he missed them in all the sets. That's basically it.

Rooting 100% for Zverev in the final. Tennis needs it. And I don’t even like Zverev or his game. I think he can win it, but if Sinner returns and serves like yesterday, it’s gonna be tough. Though Zverev has a much better serve than Novak. Leaning 60-40 Sinner as champion.

@MiraVisnjic 3 breaks while his service games where constantly deuce and Sinner’s service games where 40-15 or 40-0. Could just as easily have been 6-2 6-2 6-2. Felt like that kind of match.

@stepen14 He's not destroyed by Sinner at all....it only took 3 breaks and that's it... nothing special.

Absolutely getting destroyed by Sinner in neutral rallies. Looks completely fine physically, just not good enough to beat Sinner. Novak even serving well, but not winning any points on Sinner serve. A miracle is what it will take for Novak to win.

@QGaslighter I guess so. But being a Djokofan, you really feel that everything is possible, cause that is how he made us feel for so long.

Seriously business-like performance from Sinner. Absolutely superb. Underlines that whatever happened at AO was a remarkable fluke.

@stepen14 He is actually not serving well, he needs to be north of 75% on his first serve in order to beat this guy. First serve produce aces, shallow returns, etc. And he is not hitting the ball nearly as hard as sinner is on forehands and back hands.

His forehand down the line this Wimbledon edition has been the worst I have ever seen it. Never seen him bury so many dtl forehands that far down in the net. Constantly late. Timing has been miserable. Love grass for his serve, but for movement I always hated it.

He is just useless from the baseline, looks out of balance and can’t cope with Sinner’s pace. You won’t see a better example of young vs old than we are seeing in this match. It’s sad but what can you do. He should retire now while he still the reaches end stages of slams.

Zverev winning more points on 2.serve than 1.serve. How is that possible 😂

@iam_jenny_ Alcaraz, FAA, Dimitrov, Berrettini, Tiafoe, Bublik, Musetti, Paul, Hurkacz, Shelton, de Minaur etc. And many of those not mentioned are still very good at the net.
