There needs to be a clear understanding about this from those inside the Scotland camp. I find this disconnect quite concerning. It's not about the result. I don't agree with booing as I think it is counter-productive to the team, but it is not because Ivory Coast beat us 1-0.

I read a book once called The Winner Effect and it states that the most important part of sports, for instance, at this high level, is having confidence. And confidence comes through winning, ideally by a big margin. Taking these tough matches shortly before a major tournament can backfire, as it has done here, as we were defeated in both matches. I think we should be looking to take easy matches before big tournaments such as the world cup in order to ensure we go into it with full confidence. World champions Argentina have just played Mauritania in a friendly and are playing Zambia tonight at 00:30. Very easy matches. And the right thing to do, even for the world champions. We should adopt this approach also. The hard part(qualifying) is supposed to be done. Now is about building even more confidence. But now it's deflated.
