Honestly, the level of comprehension across all subject matters when it comes to reviews is wild. Someone once claimed that a label had a ‘review contract’ because something got a high mark. Can’t even get most labels to take a 1/4 page! And that’s a whole other issue.

Campaigning is *always* a thing for these gongs - understandably. And i don't blame acts or PRs for doing it - they absolutely should! But how almost all the acts you'd go 'are they ACTUALLY eligible?!' who emailed made it, and then almost none that didn't? Quite depressing.

(I absolutely love a lot of the acts on that list, but I couldn't with good faith vote for them in this context, even with the changed criteria)

All I'd say about the Sound of list is that it floored me how almost all the 'PR email campaigning' acts I'd consider 'established' made it on, and how few that didn't did, and that that makes the panel look daft if you're party to seeing that. And I say that as someone on it.
