@seatsixtyone Maybe it’s the ‘walk-up’ that’s confusing. Is the message, ‘Don’t buy in advance tickets that are no cheaper than if you buy them on the day of travel, online or walk-up’? While I have you .. have you heard about the bridge access closure at Nottingham that’s a real bummer.

@stephenbarker Remember we're talking *walk-up* fares here like Anytime or Off-Peak. These cost the same, whether bought on the day or in advance.

Unfortunately, this means that from Wednesday you should NEVER buy a walk-up ticket (Anytime, Off-Peak, Super Off-Peak) in advance. ALWAYS wait & buy on the day, as if you wake up on the day & find your plans have changed, event called off, whatever, you’ve lost all your money.
Simon Calder@SimonCalder

Rail ticket fraud. At last, a gaping loophole in the system will close, from Wednesday 1 April. Currently unscrupulous passengers buy an Anytime or Off-peak ticket, make the journey, and if the ticket isn't clipped or scanned they claim a refund, less £5. independent.co.uk/travel/news-an…

@Ben_Bradley_32 A pity for sure … but it can’t be just be the NI increase etc. Must be a fundamental flaw in the business model / competition from cheaper producers / customers just not interested in this sort of product anymore. Must have seen it coming.

So sad. This is a mile from where I grew up in Ripley. A company with an amazing history, part of Britain's industrial and creative heritage, and it's being destroyed by Labour's war on business. Denby Pottery is an internationally renowned British brand. Gone. Cheers Rachel 😥

Another wonderful firm killed off by Reeves. They blame "escalating costs of employment in the UK", along with "soaring industrial energy costs".

@DavidRGraham @MyNottingham Coming into town on London Road and from the Lace Market. Doesn’t need to be any higher than Jury’s Inn (which is already too high - you can see it through gap at the end of Stoney Street; you’ll be able to see this too.) Station Street will be dark.

@stephenbarker @MyNottingham I can’t picture the angle that will be obscuring the lace market? Jury’s Inn is already in the way. Something to review in the planning docs. This will have the open space of the railway station/Ldn Rd beside it, no dark streets. This brings life to an unused space.

@DavidRGraham @MyNottingham It’s not the density here, that’s fine. It’s the height. Obscured views of the Lace Market from the south. Dark streets.

@stephenbarker @MyNottingham Hard disagree. This is perfectly sensible density for a brownfield site bordering a railway station in a core city. I actually think this view is enormously detrimental to the city. I’ll wait to see planning docs on the design but will be very pleased if it emulates the Barnum

@russellajones @MyNottingham Plenty of other places .. but not where they will block all the sunlight to existing buildings and make the streets between them dark .. and where they obscure views of the Lace Market from the south.

@Battlemuch4WW @jameswnaish Agreed Steve. Only the Nottingham conurbation option makes sense. All others just change the status-nonsense and sell-out West Bridgford in the process.

@jameswnaish This is really disappointing James. I understand why you may feel the need to follow what Rushcliffe BC has gone for but you must know that it doesn’t make sense. The Nottingham conurbation model put forward by the City is the best fit for investment & services.

🚨Local Government Reorganisation🚨 Last month, three submissions were made by councils across Nottinghamshire in response to the government's call for local government reorganisation. This has been judged necessary in response to over £120 bn of debt accrued by councils. (1/5)
