@RCCClaret1971 He was sharp .. He hit our pro Craig Norris @ColneCC on his helmet, he had to retire.. At Bacup Rd . I’ve never rushed around a dressing room as quick looking for a helmet which I’d never worn before, I was next in 😂 The 1996 season he didn’t seem interested when we played them

Rawtenstall actually ended up with West Indian Tony Merrick, fearsome fast bowler in 1985 but not so much in 1986 (except once for which local legend has it that we have the opposition Pro to thank).

Every @lancs_league club will have a list of Pros who never arrived & ahead of the 1985 season Aussie Rod McCurdy joined the list at @RawtenstallCC. He actually made the original 1985 Ashes squad but had signed to play in S Africa instead.

Congrats to USA U19 captain Utkarsh Srivastava, who has been signed by Earby Cricket Club in northeast Lancashire (on the border with Yorkshire) to be their overseas pro for the summer of 2026. Earby CC is best known for producing former Lancs & England player Glen Chapple.
