@Luke_Puke5 Sometimes I read something I wrote like a year previously and I’m surprised and impressed at my own writing. Like, way to go past me!

#phd candidates, ever have writing amnesia?! I’ve been plugging away, writing the dissertation, and opened an old file for a tentative manuscript and found ALL this other writing I did! No recollection whatsoever of writing it Thank you, me, for being me! #phdchat

This is great news! Not only are they increasing funding for masters, doctoral, and postdoc awards, but they’re also increasing the number awarded. We still have a ways to go when it comes to appropriate financial support for graduate students, but this is a welcome change.

I am still shocked by this and can't get over the ideological gall of it all. So I haven't said much but permit me a couple of comments. The major mechanism that federal taxes are returned to the provinces in terms of research funding is what we call tri-council funding. /1

Every year, the federal government sends hundreds of millions of dollars in grants to Alberta post-secondary institutes. Albertans have a right to know exactly what these grants are and what they are funding. If passed, the Provincial Priorities Act will enable us to collect that information. I look forward to engaging with post-secondary institutes across Alberta to make sure our approval process aligns with their priorities.

Everyone told me that the first year on the tenure track is hard, but honestly I am finding the second year to be much harder in terms of time management and mental health. Is it winter break yet?

@acgerstein @lorianebird Update: I visited the pharmacy in person (getting groceries anyways) and that pharmacist said they DO have the new Covid vaccine and that we need to book online. I’m booked for Saturday afternoon, I guess we’ll see what they have!

@acgerstein @lorianebird I just called the No Frills on St. Anne’s and the pharmacist said they don’t have the updated booster right now, that they would maybe have it next week. The conflicting information is confusing!
