Former scout leader Richard Burrows has been sentenced to 46 years in prison for sexually abusing 24 young boys.

Richard Burrows arriving for his sentencing hearing this morning at Chester Crown Court. The former scout leader will be sentenced for numerous sexual offences against young boys after spending 27 years on the run using a stolen identity.

Headteachers have been told that 371 safer schools officers are being removed from schools and transferred to neighbourhood policing teams from 2 May. The @metpoliceuk say officers will still have close links with schools.

West Yorkshire Police told us an officer had been suspended as part of an investigation into separate allegations & they are aware of these further allegations which are also being investigated but due to the ongoing investigation, it wouldn't be appropriate to comment further.

The content appears to be the same, or strikingly similar, to that which 5 former @metpoliceuk officers last month admitted to sending. The officers pleaded guilty to sending offensive racist messages which featured the Duchess of Sussex, the late Queen and Prince Philip.

We have seen evidence of the messages on a device that was handed to @WestYorksPolice 18 months ago. Some messages refer to the royal family. The ex-wife of the officer has told us police have not looked at the content even though she sent them screenshots earlier this year.

Patrick Thelwell was sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £600. He told reporters outside of court he was relieved not to receive a prison sentence.

Student Patrick Thelwell has been found guilty of threatening behaviour after throwing 5 eggs at the King whilst on a visit in York on 9 November 2022.
