Step Up and Do Better

It was a great opportunity to speak @CIAJ_ICAJ. Justice Richard Schneider and I spoke on mental health and its interaction with the criminal justice system. In order to divert those with mental health from court we must have better civil mental health legislation.

I was privileged to be nominated by Helen Fishburn, for the King Charles III Coronation Medal. I was presented this award, by @LloydLongfield for my advocacy on mental health. I except this on behalf of my parents, who should still be here today.@CMHAWW

Since 2017 I have advocated and written thousands of letters for better mental health and addictions services, leadership and cross partisan collaboration. At this time, it is clear, the MHA crisis, is getting worse. The federal Ministry MHA has to finally Step Up and Do Better!

It was a great morning to speak to @cmhaontario at their ag conference. The challenges that face rural and remote communities are similar to urban communities. The key difference lies in lack of service capacity and stigma. Every corner of the province needs better services.

I was pleased to be interviewed by the Wellington Advertiser to share my story. This is one of the first rural papers to interview me. It is clear from my work that both urban and rural communities are experiencing the same mental health crisis. We must all Step Up and Do Better!

Great time to speak with @peerworks Ontario. Lots of good questions and dialogue. Peer support is a crucial part of mental health and addictions treatment. Greater recognition and appreciation of peer support is need across the country.

I was happy to speak to the @brantfordrotarysunrise It’s been 5 years since the club last heard me speak. Much has changed regarding the mental health crisis and yet so much remains the same, it is on all of us to Step Up and Do Better!

Thank you to the folks at Village Media for the 2023 Community Builder Award: Young Leader. As I said today this award is presented to me but it is really for my Mum and Dad. They should be here to receive it. We have much more work to do on mental health.
