@talkSPORT 100% agree, in fact I’d go further. Incremental wages, say at 17 no player can earn over £1000 per week. 18 make it £2500. 19 say £5000. Then when you stop being a teenager you can sign a normal contract. That way players might stay at their boyhood clubs longer

😤 "No 18/19 year old who hasn't played for the first team should be earning £10k-a-week!" 😫 "It kills a lot of careers!" Darragh MacAnthony slams the wages being paid to academy players and explains how it's damaging a generation of potential stars! 💷

@talkSPORT That’ll be about 22.99 million Karens that’s never watched a football match. The whole point of a World Cup is matching different styles. Anyone that knows football knows what some South American teams are going to do, it’s not pretty but thats football

@talkSPORT Why not just chuck everything nation in, we can start it two months before the season ends. Have it every two years, one year it can be on the Middle East then back in the good old US of A. Any team that has a bonafide superstar (Messi, Ronaldo) gets put straight into knockouts.

Roberto Martínez announces he is standing down as Portugal head coach. “It is true that this was my last match with the Portugal national team. But I have two things to say: “First of all, I want to thank the Portuguese people because this has been an incredible journey - an honour that I simply cannot put into words. The passion and energy of the fans, of the entire country… thank you for all of that. I will carry those memories with me for the rest of my life. “Secondly, I want to thank the players, because they have been incredible. There is an enormous amount of talent, but above all, there has been a commitment to becoming a team. Having great players in the national team is easy - they are the very best - but what truly matters is building a team. “There have been 45 matches, producing the best record in Portugal’s history. That has been possible because of the players’ commitment. I leave with unforgettable memories: winning the Nations League, breaking records… “I also want to express my deepest gratitude to the Federation for all the support they have given us, and to the coaching staff, who demonstrated an incredible level of professionalism from day one. We worked tirelessly to help our players. I leave with unforgettable memories and my most sincere thanks to the Portuguese people.”

@talkSPORT It was like playing a better version of a minnow country in the qualifiers. Breaking down a San Marino or a Luxembourg that put 10 men behind the ball is bad enough. When a better team with better players does it, it becomes even harder.

@SkyNews Has anyone looked at the reasons for these statistics. Perhaps there’s more black people carrying illegal items. Perhaps there’s more black people being aggressive and tasering is the only option. But no, let’s just say all coppers a racist. It’s an easier answer

"You're essentially between four and five times more likely to be stopped and searched if you're Black. You're...more likely to be subjected to the use of taser if you're Black than if you're white." In the wake of the murder of Henry Nowak, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has accused British policing of being "two-tier" - believing there's a bias against white people. Speaking to Sky's #ThisIsWhy podcast, Professor Clifford Stott explains to @skynewsniall what the data actually says. Listen to more here: podfollow.com/thisiswhy

It’s been fifteen years since the triple lock was brought in to boost pensions – and ease pensioner poverty. Now, former health secretary Alan Milburn suggests there needs to be a similar solution to support young people. More than one million young people in the UK are not in education, employment or training. Sky's @robpowellnews reports. 🔗 trib.al/M2zKBur
