Been away past 24 hours handling a patient with hyperthyroidism....full-blown thyroid storm, ile proper. Patient in ICU . I come back and find Nairobi healthcare leadership also in a storm…Eti Sakaja ameappoint Gaucho kwa board ya....this one hakuna treatment plan. 😭💀 Hell No

On Gaucho, I think we need to streamline the conversation on the timeline. The perception that hospital boards are exclusive for healthcare workers, which is very wrong. Anyone can sit on a hospital board as daktari highlights here. Including you reading this post.

@steveotieno08 In real ICU fluids haipenwi tu fwaaaaaah..you first scan to see the state of the inferior vena cava and that helps you make the decision of whether to give fluids to the patient and how much.

Ama watu wa radiology waroll hiyo scanner hadi maternity venye hao hufanya tukiwaitia ultrasound na xray ICU.. By the way ICU pia inafaa kukuwa tuu na radiologist na a full radiology department dedicated to it. ... That is if we are serious.... Lakini ... We are in Hell.

Pale ward uko na IV medications za kupeana na patient hana IV line. Ukienda kuweka line unapata ward hakuna strapping. Inabidi uanze kuzunguka kama kindiki kwa ma wards ukiomba strapping. God, until when?

@HKebeya They deployed the nurses who had not trained to ither units. Most of the yiung nursrs that were employed tgere went to the JOTRH training school and upgraded. I was there sometime this year and found the omes that I had been working with had been redeployed.. nice place to work..

@steveotieno08 Yeah, I remember, I was there too sometime back. Hope they increased on bed capacity to more than 6. Nurses their were friendly. Only one thing is that they didn't prioritize specialized ICU nurses to work in ICU ..when they did a shuffling any nurse would be sent there.
