@DegenerateTBone What's funny is we couldn't care less about racing but for some reason peeked at it like halfway through then ended up watching the rest of it because there was so much stuff happening that made it interesting even to people who couldn't care less. And it paid off. That was fun.

Because I'm curious...Did you watch the Indy 500 at all this year?

PS- Fun fact...the 1998 Revs also had an instance of allowing two hat tricks in six days...TB's Musa Shannon on 5/10 and KC's Digital Takawira on 5/16...but had yet another game squeezed in between on 5/13.

I can’t see Felipe Alou’s name without remembering the old Montreal newspaper scribe who accepted every spellcheck change suggested by his newfangled computer, and the copy editor who somehow missed that the Expos were now managed by Feline Aloud.

@brownbuckeye1 @MrCleveland_216 It was. A very special memory with my dad. In that split second your brain recognizes that if he's able to get to that ball and catch it, it's over. They're all dead meat and you're going to see something super rare and amazing. But all I could do was excitedly hit his arm.

Tonight, we wear black armbands in honor of Tucker Walther, a long time member of the Crew's support staff who recently passed. He served the club from 2000-2015 as Equipment Manager, Team Administrator and finally as Director of Team Operation. Our thoughts are with his family.

I know a game is about to kick off, but I have been asked to share the sad news that longtime #Crew96 team ops legend Tucker Walther has passed away. I don't have the words right now.

@DesignSpecter @Kat_A_Tonic For these standings-based things, they are cut and dried. 1996 TB and 1997 DC are Shield winners even though the Shield didn't yet exist. Same concept to the Spoon. Dead last is dead last. Super Bowl is a different beast as it was the title game between two leagues.

@stevesirk @Kat_A_Tonic I can see your logic behind this but here's the other side of it.If you consider them being able to win it before it was created Then, the browns have won a super bowl and they won, I think it was called national championship.. more than once, but that was before the "super bowl"

@stevesirk my husband and I were debating this….has #Crew96 ever had a wooden spoon? If so, what year(s) please?

@DesignSpecter @Kat_A_Tonic Crew finished dead last in 2006. They had 33 points and KC was next-worst at 38 points. The Spoon wasn't invented yet so it wasn't technically awarded in 2006, but the Crew are most definitely retroactive Spoon winners for 2006.

That was a very aggravating baseball game.

(I used "loser points" as is the common vernacular, but there are also "tie-er wins" from shootouts that cause further standings inflation that divorce the modern standings from any semblance of historical reality.)

The team currently holding the third-place playoff spot in the Metro would have long been dead and buried, even below a team that has already been comfortably eliminated.

Points: PHI 92, NYI 91, #CBJ 90, WSH 89, NJD 83 Real W-L-T hockey records w/o loser points: NYI 39-31-9, 87 pts WSH 38-33-8, 84 pts NJD 36-38-5, 77 pts PHI 31-35-13, 75 pts CBJ 32-38-9, 73 pts Loser points make the NHL standings meaningless for determining who is any good.
