Buying a football club in Western Europe remains a goal. Preferably before I’m 40. Speaking it into existence. 🙏🏾

🇳🇱 Vitesse could still be promoted to the Eredivisie despite currently sitting 12th in the table. They play in the Eerste Divisie, the Dutch second tier, a league with one of the most unusual promotion systems in Europe. With just 2 matches remaining, Vitesse sit 11 points off the top 8, which would normally make the play-offs impossible. But this is not a normal league. Several Jong (youth) teams compete in the division and are not eligible for promotion. For example, Jong PSV currently sit 5th, meaning the play-off spots extend further down the table. Even then, Vitesse are still 7 points off 9th place, which would usually be the final play-off position. So how are they still in contention? The league is split into four separate periods: matches 1–10, 11–20, 21–29, and 30–38. The winner of each period earns a play-off spot, regardless of their overall league position. Periods 1, 2 and 3 have already been won by teams currently in the top two. But in Period 4 (matches 30–38), Vitesse are currently top. If they hold onto that position over the final two matches, they will qualify for the play-offs despite sitting 12th. That means a team outside the top half could still have a route to promotion. There is another layer to it. Vitesse were handed a 12-point deduction this season. Without it, they would be sitting around 8th place, comfortably inside the play-off spots under normal circumstances. Now, despite everything, they still have a chance. Could we see one of the most unlikely promotion stories, with Vitesse going from 12th to the Eredivisie?

🇳🇬 Godwin Festus (17, RWB) is one of the players that showed massive quality on Viareggio Cup this year. Playing for Ladegbuwa 🇳🇬, he showed great level of speed, technique & demonstrated good potential for modern wing-back. Love the way he plays so much. My favourite one 💎

As long as the game was continued and not abandoned by the referee the result should stand. A penalty was missed after the walkout! Football matches should be won on the pitch.

African football is bigger than the whims of a few or one nation. This is a shame and it will take a lot for the game to recover from this. The AFCON has to be won on the pitch. All the goodwill that came from the tournament pissed down the drain.

Being a scout is not just about showing up at games. It’s about showing up for people. It’s the calls after a tough performance, the honest conversations, the guidance, the belief when others doubt. Trust, support, and presence make the real difference.

Many people confuse access with money, especially when it comes to players and journalists. From my experience, and from honest conversations with some journalists, friends and influencers, it’s not always money that moves things. Sometimes, it’s access. And access, when handled properly, is far more valuable. Years ago, an international brand reached out to me through someone who used to write for my former website. They wanted a meeting with Victor Osimhen. Before doing anything, I spoke to a senior colleague who advised me on how to approach it properly. I reached out to Osimhen, and he agreed to meet them. When we got to Naples, the brand reps admitted they weren’t even sure I could pull it off. What they didn’t know was that I hadn’t had a long back-and-forth with Osimhen beforehand. But guess the first thing Osimhen said when he walked in? “If not for OJB, I wouldn’t be honoring this meeting. Everyone brings things like this, but since it’s from him, I trust he’s vetted it.” That right there is what access really means - trust. Then Napoli happened… but that’s a story for another day. The point is simple: access can change your life. It can shift your trajectory. It can open doors money can’t. Just don’t abuse it.

Luis Enrique: “The Vinícius Júnior and Prestianni incident? What I can say about this topic is that it is nothing important.” Racism in football has remained a reoccurring scourge, not only because of those who perpetrate it, but because personalities like Luis Enrique, whose team relies on the spine of black players, has refused to use his voice to fight against it. When Luis Enrique was at his lowest, the whole world rallied around him cos we believed the pain of an individual in the football community is for all. Saying the incident between Vinicius and Gianluca Prestianni isn’t important is a big disappointment. Pathetic!!!
