genuine question: if weaponized exoticism is uniquely dominican, why do so many anglophone caribbean discussions also rely on marketing national identities through desirability, femininity, cooking, *DANCING*, and “treating a man right”? what’s the distinction?

what makes this specifically a dominican phenomenon rather than a broader caribbean one? colorism and the weaponization of exoticized national identities aren’t unique to the dominican republic, and similar patterns can be found in many other parts of the region.

The Dominican Republic is NOT a black country. The foundation Dominican Republic is white supremacy. Dominicans are the Israelis of Latin America. They are all fucking racist as fuck and proud to be. For the love of god, the U.S. embassy in the Dominican Republic had to release a warning to black Americans because they were being stopped on the basis of their skin color.
